Portugal and Spain will play this Wednesday, the 27th, in the first semifinal of Euro 2012. Bleacher Report is taking a look at the possible starting lineups for this rivalry match-up.
Both teams have featured a 4-3-3 formation throughout the tournament, and one will expect more of the same when they meet.
The lineups for both teams have basically been the same since day one but there will certainly be a change for one team this time around.
Here are the predicted lineups for Portugal vs. Spain.
Goalkeeper
1 of 11Portugal: Rui Patricio
Rui Patricio's only clean sheet in the tournament so far has come against the Czech Republic in the quarterfinal.
Spain: Iker Casillas
Spain's captain has shown why he is so important to the squad with important saves in the few moments Spain give their opponents chances.
Right-Back
2 of 11Portugal: Joao Pereira
Joao Pereira has been great for Portugal on the offensive end but he will have his hands full against Andres Iniesta.
Spain: Alvaro Arbeloa
Alvaro Arbeloa has been steady for Spain on the right side and will be going up against club team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Right Center-Back
3 of 11Portugal: Bruno Alves
Bruno Alves is a solid player and will be part of probably the best central defensive partnership the Spanish have faced so far this tournament.
Spain: Gerard Pique
Gerard Pique hasn't really been spectacular in this tournament but has helped his side deal with threats when they come about.
Left Center-Back
4 of 11Portugal: Pepe
Pepe knows a lot of these Spanish players, whether as teammates or opponents in La Liga, and it should be an interesting match for him.
Spain: Sergio Ramos
Like his central defensive partner, Sergio Ramos hasn't been too spectacular but is part of a defense that has only allowed one goal in this tournament.
Left-Back
5 of 11Portugal: Fabio Coentrao
Fabio Coentrao will look to continue his partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and provide a great threat for Spain on the counter.
Spain: Jordi Alba
Jordi Alba has been pretty good for the Spaniards so far and has replaced Joan Capdevila well.
Defensive Midfielder
6 of 11Portugal: Miguel Veloso
Miguel Veloso has worked tirelessly in this tournament for the Portuguese.
Spain: Sergio Busquets
Sergio Busquets has been stable in the midfield for Spain. He has done his simple job without any fuss.
Right Central Midfielder
7 of 11Portugal: Raul Meireles
Raul Meireles will look to provide a threat in the box for Portugal when given the chance.
Spain: Xavi
Xavi will look to continue leading the Spanish attack with their flowing passing game.
Left Central Midfielder
8 of 11Portugal: Joao Moutinho
Joao Moutinho is the most creative of Portugal's three midfielders and will look to provide those pinpoint passes to his attackers.
Spain: Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso will be brimming with confidence after his two-goal performance against France.
Right Wing
9 of 11Portugal: Nani
Nani has been the most consistent attacking threat for Portugal in the tournament and will look to continue his good play.
Spain: David Silva
David Silva has one goal to his name in the tournament.
Left Wing
10 of 11Portugal: Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has round into form in Portugal's last two games and looks like he could lead them to the final.
Spain: Andres Iniesta
Andres Iniesta's silky dribbling skills have been on display for Spain all tournament.
Forward
11 of 11Portugal: Hugo Almeida
Helder Postiga will be out with an injury, so Hugo Almeida is likely to start over Nelson Oliveira thanks to his international experience.
Spain: Cesc Fabregas
The Spanish have only veered from the "false nine" in one game and it is unlikely that will change. That is why Fabregas gets the start.
