NBA Draft 2012: Pure Winners That Will Carry Franchises to an NBA Title

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

Every player that will be drafted in Thursday's NBA draft one day wants to be in the shoes of LeBron James and the Miami heat, on the court celebrating the fact that they are NBA champions.

There will be 60 players drafted Thursday night and only a handful of them will play a key role in leading an NBA franchise to a title.

With that said, let's take a look at a few born winners that will one day lead a team to a championship.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

1 of 6

Kidd-Gilchrist has everything a team wants in a young player.

He's a natural leader, a high-character guy and plays with a motor that never quits. He has the ability to dominate a game on the defensive end and does all of the little things needed to help a team win.

MKG may not be the best perimeter shooter in the world, but given his work ethic, I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn it into a strength before long.

Thomas Robinson

2 of 6

Robinson is a winner.

For his sake, Robinson better hope he doesn't get drafted by Charlotte, but he's a guy that posted 27 double-doubles on the season and played a big role on why a Kansas team not blessed with outstanding talent made it to the championship game.

He's a ferocious rebounder and has a developing offensive game. If some team trades up to No. 2 to get him, it wouldn't surprise me to see Robinson leading a team to the playoffs before the rest on this list.

Anthony Davis

3 of 6

Davis showed as a freshman at Kentucky how he can impact a game without ever needing to touch the ball.

In New Orleans he will be not only a game-changer but a franchise-changer as well.

The sheer impact Davis will have at the defensive end of the floor will go a long way into turning the Hornets into winners.

Damian Lillard

4 of 6

Lillard is a player that can flat-out shoot the rock.

He can score from anywhere on the floor, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from behind the arc and 88.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Not only can Lillard score, but he's shown he can run an offense as well, posting a near 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio in an offense that he was asked to score a lot.

Lillard is mature and won't be overwhelmed by the NBA game.

He's a guy that can become a leader as a rookie.

Kendall Marshall

5 of 6

Speaking of leaders, Marshall is everything a good team will want out of a point guard.

He values the basketball, posting a 3.48 assist-to-turnover ratio on the season and is a great passer and decision-maker, averaging 9.8 assists.

Marshall sees the floor well and has an outstandingly high basketball IQ.

More importantly, he's the type of player that makes everyone around him better. You saw how North Carolina struggled without him in the NCAA Tournament.

While he's not a scorer, he's a difference-maker nonetheless.

Surround Marshall with a couple of scorers and he will make them even better.

Bradley Beal

6 of 6

Beal needs to go to the right situation, but he's the type of guard that can do it all on the court.

He's a leader who can score from anywhere, but is also a good defensive guard and one of the better rebounding guards in the draft.

The Florida product is the type of player that can take an up-and-coming team to the next level.
