Nate Bossory Drawing Interest from Big Ten and Ivy League Programs

Zach DirlamJun 7, 2018

There are a select number of high school athletes who are able to balance their workload both on the field and in the classroom like Chelsea High School's soon-to-be senior quarterback Nate Bossory

The 6'3", 220 pound signal-caller has attracted the attention of prominent football programs such as the Michigan State Spartans, Iowa Hawkeyes, Florida Gators and Penn State Nittany Lions after throwing for 2,100 yards and 26 touchdowns in 10 games during the 2011 season. Bossory's academic prowess has also caught the eyes of several Ivy League programs.

"Some different Ivy League schools that are in play for me are Harvard, Princeton, Pennsylvania, Brown and Columbia," Bossory said. "I recognize the value of education and the opportunity to go to school and play for any school that is in the Ivy League would be a great opportunity."

Although Bossory has yet to receive a scholarship offer he is confident schools are close to doing so. This has encouraged Bossory to continue improving several aspects his game this summer.

"I have been working a lot on my game," Bossory said happily. "Different things from getting stronger and faster, to my footwork and consistency throwing the ball."

"There are always things I can work on, but I know when schools get a chance to see me throw in person I will have some opportunities."

During some of Bossory's free time in the spring he was able to take unofficial visits to Michigan State, Iowa, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Princeton. Bossory enjoyed all of the visits, but noted that the trips to Princeton and Iowa stood out a bit more to him than the others.

In addition to dealing with the recruiting process, Bossory has been adjusting to his new school and new teammates at Chelsea after transferring there from Manchester High School last trimester.

The changes have not bothered Bossory up to this point, but that doesn't mean he does not miss his old school or that he was overly excited to leave Manchester after failing to accomplish everything he set out to do when he made the varsity team.

The last two seasons did not end well for Bossory and Manchester as both campaigns ended with a first round loss in the Michigan High School Athletic Association playoffs. The most recent defeat came at the hands of Leslie High School.

"The most disappointing part of my junior season was losing in the first round of the playoffs," Bossory revealed, "and the most disappointing part of my career was that I failed to win a playoff game my sophomore and junior years."

While Bossory is leaving behind a team that won eight games a year ago and is primed for another successful season, the young quarterback is likely going to be part of one of the state's most dynamic duos when he steps on the field with stud running back Berkley Edwards, who will also be entering his senior season with the Bulldogs.

"I am looking forward to play for and with many talented and good people," Bossory said of his new team. "Berkley Edwards is a weapon that any quarterback would love to have. He is one of the best backs in the country."

There is still quite a bit of time before Bossory and Edwards will be terrorizing defenses together, so for the remainder of the summer Bossory will attend multiple college camps in hopes of obtaining his first offer. Even though all of Bossory's attention is on his new school and his future both academically and on the football field he insists he will never forget his time at Manchester.

"I am going to remember all of the great people I was around and exposed to," Bossory said about his former school. "I am just glad I am part of Chelsea Schools and that I can be part of the team. Everyday I try to compete to become the best I am capable of becoming."
