One Nightmare Recruiting Scenario for Each Top 10 Recruiting Class
They say never think bad thoughts and always think positively. Well, for this piece, we just couldn't help it. We're just going to have same fun for this piece.
Well, in these scenarios, the fun will be long gone for these top 10 recruiting classes. We're going to switch it up and reel off one nightmare scenario for each top 10 recruiting class in 2013 recruiting.
The nightmares begins now!
10. Auburn
1 of 10Gene Chizik's class looks good right now, but I think he'd be having fits if he lost Carl Lawson.
How about we see Lawson get itchy about Auburn and decide that not only does he not want to play in The Plains, but he likes the idea of being a 3-4 OLB for arch rival Alabama?
I think Chizik and the Tigers staff would lose sleep over this scenario.
9. Florida State
2 of 10The Seminoles always seem to keep about two or three speedy, shifty backs on their roster, and Green will be another for them.
Or will he? With Clemson's hot run and the loss of speedy 2011 RB Mike Bellamy, a nightmare for FSU would be Green seeing he could replace Bellamy at Clemson and signing with the 'Noles ACC rivals.
Ouch.
8. USC
3 of 10The Trojans are enjoying a great recruiting cycle in 2013, as they have five 5-star commitments inside their nine-man class right now.
Their most recent 5-star pledge was from the likes of Su'a Cravens. Cravens appears to be set to play safety in Troy, but a nightmare would be that Cravens decides he wants to play RB in college.
At rival UCLA of all places!
7. Ohio State
4 of 10The Buckeyes have a great looking class, and with commitments from two big-time CB's in Cam Burrows and Eli Woodard, they should have a top-flight secondary in a few seasons.
However, a nightmare could strike if Woodard gets cold feet at leaving his home state of New Jersey.
Burrows has grown up to be a Buckeye, but what if Signing Day come sand Woodard chooses to stay home and sign with Rutgers?
That could hurt.
6. Texas A&M
5 of 10The Aggies have to be excited by having a pledge from big-time WR prospect Derrick Griffin. He's a tall playmaker with great athleticism and more.
Griffin also is a basketball player and will likely look around a bit.
A&M could breathe a sigh of relief when Griffin tells them he's sticking with his pledge, but will play basketball instead of football in college station.
5. Georgia
6 of 10This nightmare is probably the closest to becoming a reality. Derrick Henry is a huge 6'3", 240-pound RB that was committed to Georgia, but recently backed off.
The Bulldogs remain in contention, but their SEC rivals, Alabama, appear to be a huge player in this race.
It would just downright be terrible to see a talented runner like Henry not only escape, but escape to a conference rival, if you're Georgia.
4. Texas
7 of 10The Longhorns have a great class, but have already seen one of their headliners de-commit in WR Ricky Seals-Jones.
That's a nightmare.
Another nightmare would be to see prized QB commit Tyrone Swoopes de-commit too and sign with rival Oklahoma.
That's another nightmare.
3. Alabama
8 of 10The Crimson Tide suffered a bit of a blow last week, as they failed to land Robert Nkemdiche.
Their top committed prospect is all-world LB Reuben Foster, who could take trips and flirt with Georgia more and more as this cycle continues.
It would sure be a nightmare for Nick Saban and Kirby Smart to see a player like Foster de-commit and land at Georgia. Or Auburn.
Ouch.
2. Florida
9 of 10The Gators don't have a true clear-cut headliner, but they have a great group of overall talent in their class. This is class will really help fill some holes and stock more talent around their roster.
However, wouldn't it be crushing to see RB Kelvin Taylor pull a Dante Fowler-reverse and start rockin' Florida State gear? That would mean there's come concern for the second generation's Gator's commitment.
We all know what happened with Fowler after he started wearing Florida clothing.
1. Michigan
10 of 10Michigan has the No. 1 class in the country these days, and as much as Brady Hoke and Greg Mattison and the rest of the Wolverine coaches deserve for their recruiting efforts, so does QB Shane Morris.
Morris has helped lure prospects to commit to Michigan a great deal.
A nightmare for Big Blue would be to see Morris not only de-commit, but commit to Ohio State. Then, not only would Morris commit to Ohio State, but he'd start to use his recruiting savvy that helped Michigan for Ohio State and take Wolverine commits with him.
Relax Michigan fans, it's just a nightmare.
