10 Elite Uncommitted Recruits Who Could Actually Turn Down the SEC

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

A few days back, we looked at the top uncommitted recruits that are likely SEC bound. Today, we're going to the other end of the spectrum.

Today, we're going to give you 10 uncommitted recruits among the elite-status prospects who say "thanks, but no thanks" to playing in the dominant SEC football league.

While all of these prospects clearly hold SEC offers, maybe playing in the big-time conference doesn't excite them too much.

10. Marcell Harris, S

1 of 10

Harris is a 6'2" safety prospect that weighs in the 200-pound range. He hails from Florida, and the SEC Gators have been in the hunt for a while.

However, my gut tells me he could opt to spurn playing in the SEC for a certain Big 12 school. A Big 12 school that plays it's home games in Austin, Texas.

9. Alvin Kamara, RB

2 of 10

Kamara is a 5'10", 190-pound RB prospect from Georgia. He's extremely shifty and quick and can really be a factor in the passing game.

I can easily see him sticking in SEC country and heading to Alabama or Georgia. However, don't count out Oregon for him.

8. Jordan Cunningham, WR

3 of 10

Cunningham has schools like Alabama on his trail, but I think the 6'1", 175-pounder from South Florida could end up at either Stanford or Miami.

He seems really focused on top-notch education and academic challenges, which Stanford offers as an institution.

7. Mackensie Alexander, CB

4 of 10

Florida and Alabama could be SEC options for Alexander, but I really like Clemson's chances to land the 5'11", 185-pound cornerback.

Alexander is from Florida and has a twin brother, yet the two likely won't try hard to play together in college. Look for Alexander to end up Clemson or perhaps Florida State.

6. Marquez North, WR

5 of 10

North is from North Carolina, and I think SEC powers like Florida and Georgia could be viable options for him. Yet the 6'3", 210-pounder also could choose to not play in the SEC.

I think schools recruiting North should watch out for non-SEC programs like Oregon and Clemson. North could choose to stay close to home in the Carolina region or head west.

5. Derrick Green, RB

6 of 10

Alabama and Auburn could find themselves thick in the hunt for Green, as his physical running style fits both programs very, very well. A 6'0", 220-pound big back from Virginia, Green is coveted around the country.

However, he could opt to head to Oregon or Penn State over the SEC powers. Also, don't sleep on Virginia Tech.

4. Matthew Thomas, OLB

7 of 10

Alabama and Georgia could be big-time players for Thomas when it comes time for him to make a decision. However, the Miami native could choose to spurn the SEC and play at home for The U.

Also, I caution not to sleep on Florida State and to go even further. Don't sleep on Charlie Strong and Louisville. As you can see, Thomas may tell the SEC "no."

3. Robert Foster, WR

8 of 10

If Foster comes to the SEC, look for him to surface at either Alabama or perhaps Florida. However, the speedy WR may choose to stay up North.

If so, look for Pitt, Penn State and Ohio State to be in the thick of the hunt.

Also, Oregon could squeeze Foster in for a trip, but the SEC may not be his ultimate conference of choice anyway you slice it.

2. Vernon Hargreaves III, CB

9 of 10

If Hargreaves goes the SEC route, he'll likely be in Gainesville at Florida.

However, I can see him staying home and playing for his dad's team at South Florida or getting wowed on a trip to Columbus and playing for Ohio State.

He has SEC talent, but he may not end up an SEC player.

1. Kendall Fuller, CB

10 of 10

Fuller probably won't be in the SEC, folks, as I think he will end up either at Michigan, Clemson or Virginia just based on following his recruitment.

He's an uber-athletic 6'0", 185-pound corner from D.C. that can also play WR.

It's not that Fuller has anything against the SEC, yet I think the various ties and feelings he has with the before mentioned three exceed the allure of balling in the SEC.
