US Open Golf TV Schedule 2012: Tiger Woods and Golfers Who Will Shine on Day 2

Austin GreenJun 7, 2018

The notoriously tough Olympic Club course ate up several of the PGA's finest golfers, but you can expect a few players to conquer the links in Round 2 of the 2012 U.S. Open.

Although the 7,170-yard course is one of the more menacing on tour, it's not unbeatable by any means. As first-round leader Michael Thompson proved on Thursday, consistent and safe play can lead to some great scores.

Expect these three golfers to follow his lead with strong Round 2 performances on Friday.

Tiger Woods (-1)

Although everyone loves to highlight Tiger's struggles, he is actually third in the PGA with a 69.42 scoring average this year. He hit that mark again on Thursday, going for a one-under 69 in San Francisco.

After winning the Memorial just two weeks ago, this is an encouraging development for Woods. He's finally back to his chip-sinking, fist-pumping ways, and he can prove this weekend that his recent success is no fluke.

Woods was highly consistent in Round 1, draining three birdies and registering just two bogeys. I'm expecting him to overtake Thompson on Friday with another solid performance.

Lefty was just awful on Thursday.

He smacked his first tee shot into the gallery, and he didn't get much better after that. He ended up bogeying his first three holes and seven overall, as he couldn't keep the ball on the fairway.

This course is a nightmare for his aggressive style, but I'm still expecting him to play much better on Friday. Mickelson is simply too smart, too talented and too experienced to struggle this much again.

He may miss his second U.S. Open cut in six years, but he'll at least make it interesting with a quality Round 2.

Jim Furyk (E)

Furyk was remarkably consistent in his first round, parring 16 of 18 holes.

This shouldn't come as a major surprise, as he is currently fourth in the PGA in scoring average (69.55) and second in driving accuracy percentage (71.36 percent).

Furyk already has three top-10 finishes this year, and it looks like he's well on his way toward another. If he can put together a couple more rounds like he did on Thursday, he could claim his first win of 2012.

Here is the complete TV schedule for the second round at the 2012 US Open.
