5-Star RB Decommits from Georgia; Why He's a Slam Dunk to Land at Alabama
The Georgia Bulldogs are doing what they usually do in landing some of the top talent in each recruiting class. They have already put together a list of 20 early commitments for the 2013 class, including several top-rated players throughout the country.
But Georgia suffered a big blow earlier today when 5-star running back Derrick Henry decided to decommit from the school.
This of course isn't good for the Bulldogs, as it is never a good thing to see a top-tier player say he is going to be a member of your program, only to see him walk out the door before you have a chance to seal the deal. Henry is a physical runner at 6'3", 241 pounds, but he also has terrific field vision and great speed for a back of his size.
While this is bad news for the Bulldogs, it does possibly mean wonderful news for another SEC team—the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia may have seen this coming, as there were rumors flying around just days ago that he may be considering Nick Saban and company instead.
Now, this of course does not mean that Henry is a lock to pack his bags for Tuscaloosa, Ala. The 5-star recruit still has offers on the table from other schools such as Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and USC, among others. But it does seem a little suspicious that he just came back from a visit with Alabama and has already dropped the school he had committed to previously.
The Crimson Tide has a great tradition in creating successful running backs, with recent success from runners such as Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson. Junior Eddie Lacy is expected to take over this season, and if Henry commits, it creates a huge possibility of one of the best one-two combos with him and current true freshman T.J. Yeldon for years to come.

"I’m going to open up my recruitment and take some more visits, get as much information as I can, and then decide from there. I was probably a little too quick in making my initial decision and got caught up in the moment so I apologize for that.
"
With his size, many schools are considering him playing other positions besides running back, which is why he has trimmed his list down to only a handful of schools. Henry wants to only play the running back position and Alabama is one of those schools that have said that is the position he will play if he picks the Tide.
"I’m not sure when I’ll make a final announcement, but when I have no doubts at all about where I’m going, I’ll let everyone know."
Henry wants to have no doubts with his decision, but he's already shown some before he has made his official announcement. Alabama just received great news today, as it will likely land another 5-star player and another beast at the running back position.
