Big Ten Football Morning Coffee: NFL QB Denard Robinson? Brady Hoke Says Yes

Adam JacobiMay 31, 2018

Rise and shine, friends. Here's what's going down in the Big Ten today.

—Denard Robinson as an NFL QB? Mel Kiper said no, Denard Robinson said yes and—shocker—Brady Hoke is in Robinson's corner on this one. As Nick Baumgardner at AnnArbor.com reported, Hoke pushed back on that idea, saying "I think he can [play quarterback]. There will be other people that think he can't. But, you know what, that won't be their decision."

—Speaking of Michigan, ticket revenue is turning into a bit of a rivalry with Ohio State, as both schools are raking in money; MGoBlog says that AD Dave Brandon's claim that Michigan's prices are "woefully under market" is spurious at best, and Ohio State's advantage is only about $2.45 per ticket. Ah, but Michigan must remain "competitive," so that's why they're jacking up prices again. "You wouldn't want Michigan to be uncompetitive, would you?" asks the smiling man as he rifles through your wallet.

—Ohio State's 2011 Sugar Bowl victory no longer exists, thanks to the NCAA's decision to vacate it and the 11 other victories of Ohio State's 2010 season. Jim Tressel and Terrelle Pryor were unceremoniously booted from Columbus in the wake of all that too, and Ohio State even returned its $338,000 share of the Sugar Bowl purse. Also, as the Toledo Blade reports, AD Gene Smith received a $61,500 bonus for that since-vacated BCS appearance, so surely he too returned that money... HAHA NOPE, HATERS GONNA HATE.

—Steven M. Sipple of HuskerExtra.com has an interview with former Husker safety Eric Stokes, who was just named the director of college scouting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stokes talked about playing for the ultra-dominant mid-'90s Nebraska teams and what it was like to play against that offense in practice. Spoiler alert: he still remembers Lawrence Phillips, and he still gets asked about LP more than any other player.
