NFL: Why Your Man Cave Will Never Compete with Live Game Action

Jeremy SickelJun 7, 2018

As advancements in technology continue to evolve seemingly as the minutes pass each day, life can pretty much be directed from your favorite spot on the couch, with everything imaginable available to you with the touch of a single button.

This reality alone has the potential of transforming one’s man cave into a tropical oasis of sorts.

Better TVs, enhanced sound capabilities, personal restroom access and a much more thirst-quenching (and cheaper) beer selection are all almost enough to make you swear off ever going to a live sporting event ever again, let alone an NFL game, where an average family of four can spend north of $400 to enjoy a single game.

If you have ever actually set foot inside an NFL stadium and absorbed all that the atmosphere has to offer, you understand that seeing a game live is an experience matched by no other in sports.

Before even making your way into the venue to enjoy the game itself, firing up the old Weber (or your stainless steel, propane powered, portable kitchen for those who can’t keep the charcoal lit), throwing back a few cold ones with your pals, and tossing the ole pigskin around a poorly paved concrete playground is something better enjoyed outside of your home confines.

There is just something to be revered about the multitude of aromas in the open air, as complete strangers set aside their Monday through Friday lifestyles to congregate and relate with others who share a common bond: fanhood.

Once inside the stadium, rubbing elbows and sharing decibel-busting cheers and jeers with 80,000-plus crazed fans is possibly the biggest perk of spending a small fortune to vacate the comfort of your man cave to watch live NFL game action.

Sharing those moments with family and close friends at home is an awesome experience, but doling out random high-fives and chest bumps to unfamiliar faces is an invaluable experience, and it never gets old.

There are zero personal assistants in the average American household, so being able to break away from serving yourself during a game gives you that much more time to enjoy the product.

If you can stomach the astronomical markup on the price of a beer or a plate of nachos, the fact that someone lugs this stuff around the stadium while you stay firmly planted in your seat and engaged in the action has major upside.

While staying home may seem easier, and is obviously plenty cheaper, the NFL is going to great lengths to keep up with the Joneses in making the live-action experience the best it can possibly be.

A greater food and beverage selection, a more interactive feel with the advancements of social media tied to your mobile device, and up-to-the-minute fantasy football updates all help personalize your experience while staying true to overall environment.

There is still something to be said about the aura of the game ticket. Having tangible proof that you witnessed that record-breaking performance or that amazing comeback will help you remember that game forever.
