NFL Draft Grades 2012: Complete Scores for Round 2
The second round of the 2012 NFL Draft had 31 picks and it was pretty evenly divided as 15 were on the offensive side of the ball and 16 on the defensive side of the ball. There were some intriguing story lines heading into Round 2 as most analysts considered the St. Louis Rams trading out of the No. 6 spot in the first round with Dallas to be a bad move.
However, the Rams were able to stockpile picks in the second round with three picks taking one of the riskier players at the draft in cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Could Jenkins be a star or just another Pacman Jones?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts picked up quarterback Andrew Luck's Stanford roommate and tight end Coby Fleener. Can Fleener become just as successful as another Colts tight end, Dallas Clark, that was drafted early in the NFL Draft?
Moreover, the New York State of mind of the Giants and Jets went with tall, deep threat wide receivers who they are hoping will pan out.
Last but not least the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers got defensive in each of their picks in the second round to build up their defenses that struggled mightily in the 2011 season. Here are the grades of each picks of the second round.
Round 2:
No. 33: Rams select: Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State Grade: B
This a great pick for the Rams as they passed on a chance to take Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd in the first round. Quick is tall at 6'4'' and built at 220 pounds and is a reach at this pick but the Rams need a wide receiver good at jump balls and will be a big target for quarterback Sam Bradford in the red zone.
No. 34: Colts select: Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford Grade: A
Fleener is the best tight end in the 2012 NFL draft. He is big, athletic, has good hands, can stretch the field and will have great rapport with new Colt quarterback Andrew Luck as the two were college roommates at Stanford.
No. 35: Ravens select: Courtney Upshaw, DE, Alabama Grade: A
Upshaw is a great edge rusher and he fits the Ravens 3-4 defensive scheme perfectly alongside Pro Bowler Terrell Suggs.
No. 36: Broncos select: Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati Grade: B
The Broncos desperately needed a defensive tackle and Derek Wolfe is can play any position at the line. He lacks explosiveness but plays hard to the whistle every snap.
No. 37: Browns select: Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California Grade: B
Schwartz is a big physical guy who will play right tackle and will complement ProBowler Joe Thomas who owns the left side.
No. 38: Jaguars select: Andre Branch, DE, Clemson Grade: B+
Branch is a solid pass-rusher and is very explosive off the edge. The Jaguars needed a defensive end badly due to injuries and old age.
No. 39: Rams select: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama Grade: B+
Rams coach Jeff Fisher loves to take players that have off the field baggage and the Rams desperately need a cornerback to complement Cortland Finnegan. Why not take Jenkins in this spot? Jenkins will take on the team's No. 2 wide receiver and Jenkins is on the of the best cover-corners in this draft.
No. 40: Panthers select: Amini Silatolu, OG, Midwestern State Grade: C+
Silatolu is a mauler and the Panthers do need help on their offensive line but Silatolu played against inferior competition in college and can get beat by fast edge rushers.
No. 41: Bills select: Cordy Glenn, OT, Georgia Grade: B+
Glenn was a four-year starter at Georgia and will fit perfect as a right tackle on the Bills offensive line.
No. 42: Dolphins select: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford Grade: C+
Martin will likely play right tackle for the Dolphins as Jake Long is over on the left side. Martin needs to get much stronger as he can get easily get pushed around by more physical defensive linemen.
No. 43: Jets select: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech Grade: B+
The Jets needed a younger, big, deep threat wide receiver and they found that in Stephen Hill. Hill is raw at this point but you know he can block and be physical as he was part of the triple-option at Georgia Tech. Hill also comes from the same mold of Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas that also played in that Georgia Tech offense.
No. 44: Chiefs select: Jeff Allen, OG, Illinois Grade: C+
Allen was a four-year starter at Illinois and excels as a pass-blocker but needs to develop more as a run blocker, especially in a dominated running attack with the Kansas City Chiefs.
No. 45: Bears select: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina Grade: C
He is a big, athletic wide receiver and will be used in the Bears offense as more of a red-zone and third-down type of wide receiver. He can't get separation and has no deep threat ability.
No. 46: Eagles select: Mychal Kendricks, ILB, California Grade: B
Kendricks is 5'11'' and is undersized as a linebacker but has great instincts, quick feet and is a good tackler. Kendricks will be a great addition to the Eagles linebackers who already have Pro Bowler DeMeco Ryans from free agency.
No. 47: Seahawks select: Bobby Wagner, ILB, Utah State Grade: C+
Wagner is a solid run defender, but struggles in coverage and the Seahawks need a more dynamic linebacker in their defensive scheme.
No. 48: Patriots select: Tavon Wilson, FS, Illinois Grade: B
Wilson is very dynamic at safety and corner. Something you know New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick loves are players that can play multiple positions.
No. 49: Chargers select: Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut Grade: B
Reyes is very explosive against the run and can easily penetrate the offensive line. He is a perfect fit in the 3-4 defensive scheme for the Chargers.
No. 50: Rams select: Isaiah Pead, RB, Cincinnati Grade: B
Pead is a great multi-purpose running back in terms of running, receiving and in the return game. He will be a good fit as a change of pace back to workhorse Steven Jackson.
No. 51: Packers select: Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State Grade: B-
Worthy is a good selection for the Packers on that defensive line. But Worthy doesn't play at a high level every time, so he can be very inconsistent.
No. 52: Titans select: Zach Brown, OLB, North Carolina Grade: C+
Brown can cause chaos in the backfield for opposing offenses, as he possesses a great ability to pass rush. However, he plays a lot of the time out of position to make those plays which becomes a high risk for the Titans.
No. 53: Bengals select: Devon Still, DT, Penn State Grade: B
Still could have been first-round talent but dropped to the second round because he was very inconsistent. He fits well in the defensive scheme with the Bengals and the team is known to always take a chance on high-risk players.
No. 54: Lions select: Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma Grade: C
Broyles is coming off a knee injury so there is always concern but he should be a solid slot receiver. The injury history is a concern though.
No. 55: Falcons select: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin Grade: B+
Konz is the best center in this draft class and was a great pick up by the Falcons whose current center Todd McClure likely will not be with the team next year.
No. 56: Steelers select: Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State Grade: C+
Adams definitely has some character issues and inconsistent play, which explains why he dropped this far in the second round. However, the Steelers do need big bodies up front to protect Big Ben.
No. 57: Broncos select: Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State Grade: C+
Osweiler has great size at 6'7'' and is still really raw and has a really low release. But he will be learning from the best in quarterback Peyton Manning.
No. 58: Buccaneers select: Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska Grade: B+
He is a tackling machine and the NFL experts like Jon Gruden compared him to former Tampa Bay linebacker great Derrick Brooks. Good pick for the Buccaneers.
No. 59: Eagles select: Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall Grade: B
Curry has a great motor and is a solid pass-rusher. He will fit right at home with the Eagles along the deep pass rushing depth chart.
No. 60: Ravens select: Kelechi Osemele, OG, Iowa State Grade: B
Osemele is a mauler and has the strength and size to be an immediate starter at right guard for a Baltimore Raven team that has holes to fill on their offensive line.
No. 61: 49ers select: LaMichael James, RB, Oregon Grade: C
James is a speedster and can run, catch and play special teams as well. He will be fourth on the team's depth chart but will provide a big boost to the return game.
No. 62: Packers select: Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt Grade: B+
Hayward is a very physical corner that jams receivers at the line. He will definitely add some aggressiveness to a Packers pass defense that ranked near dead last in the NFL in 2011.
No. 63: Giants select: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU Grade: B
The Giants needed another wide receiver after Mario Manningham left via free agency. Randle, although very raw, stands 6'3'' and is 210 pounds and will be a big target for quarterback Eli Manning.
