LSU Football: 5 Most Important Post-Spring Dates

Jake MartinApr 26, 2012

Now that spring ball is wrapped up for the LSU Tigers, fans can now look forward to the fall.

A lot was accomplished in the spring, as the Tigers found possible replacements at linebacker with Ronnie Feist and Lamar Louis and Zach Mettenberger showed off his impressive arm during the spring game.

With the team filling the holes left by players who have moved on, the Tigers now sets their sights on the fall for the regular season.

These are the dates that Tiger fans should have marked on their schedule.

SEC Media Days

1 of 5

Date: July 18

This is the date that the media around the SEC will grill Les Miles for his actions in the national championship.

Miles will have to answer all questions regarding the game, and then, he should be bombarded with questions about his team's chances at winning a national championship.

Miles is always a fun interview, and when the media and the Mad Hatter get together, comedy is almost guaranteed to ensue.

The SEC Media Days always generate excitement for the year, and after Miles and his selected three players answer question after question in Birmingham, the hype will only intensify.

Beginning of Camp

2 of 5

Date: Not Announced

The date for the Tigers camp has yet to be released, but it's certainly a date to look out for.

The road to the championship begins with preparation, and practice is where the elite separate themselves from the pack.

Knowing Miles' practices and the work ethic exhibited by the veterans on this team, I have no doubts that they will put in the work needed to get better.

With practices getting underway, that means the season is but a blink away.

Season Opener Against North Texas

3 of 5

Date: Sept. 1

Yeah, the interviews and practice reports are all good and dandy, but it's really all about watching LSU take the field again.

On Sept. 1, they kick off their season against North Texas in what should be a blowout. Though the Tigers will most likely win this game by 40 points, fans will get to see what Zach Mettenberger can do against a team from start to finish.

Considering the fact that the Tigers will be playing most of their games in the afternoon on CBS, a night game in Tiger Stadium will be fun to watch.

It's become a rarity these days, and it makes it that more special.

Return to College Station

4 of 5

Date: Oct. 20

LSU renews its rivalry with Texas A&M on Oct. 20, and this game has received a ton of hype.

Many LSU fans are wanting to make the trip to College Station and take over the 12th Man, which will prove to be a daunting task.

LSU holds a 27-20-3 edge in the rivalry, and after they dismantled the Aggies 41-24 in the 75th Cotton Bowl game, Texas A&M will be looking to exact revenge.

It's going to be one of the biggest games of the year for Tiger fans, and the trip back to College Station will be a trip worth the wait.

The Revenge of the Tigers

5 of 5

Date: Nov. 3

Nov. 3 is a date that's been branded in every LSU fan's brain, because it marks a showdown in Death Valley against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

As an LSU fan, that image above with Alabama celebrating with the BCS national championship in the Superdome haunts me. That's why a night game in Tiger Stadium against Alabama in prime time sounds like music to my ears.

LSU and Alabama is turning into quite the rivalry, and if you don't believe that's the case, just wait a while and read the comments below. Just as many Alabama fans, if not more, leave comments below, and no matter the subject of the article, both fanbases tend to get into an argument.

That's because football is everything for both teams, and when these two teams meet again in the fall, it's going to be can't miss television.
