5 Kevin Love Endorsements That Need to Happen
Some of the top NBA players make a large portion of their salaries through endorsement deals.
LeBron James has had deals with Nike, Glaceau, McDonald's, Sprite, State Farm and Upper Deck.
Dwight Howard is estimated to bring in nearly $20 million through deals with Gatorade, McDonald's, T-Mobile and VitaminWater.
In 2011, NBA forward Kevin Love signed an endorsement with Jose Cuervo, and he also signed a deal with a Chinese sportswear company, 361 Degrees.
Now that Love has become a bigger-name player and entered himself into the outer rings of MVP discussions, here are five more endorsements that need to happen for the UCLA alum.
Mr. Clean Cleaning Products
1 of 5If you aren't a Timberwolves fan, you may not have seen the 2009 promotional video created to market Love for the 2009 Rookie of the Year award.
The entertaining piece focuses on Love's rebounding numbers, making a play on the phrase "Cleaning the Boards."
This marketing slogan could go a long way for the Minnesota forward...and if you ask me, he looks a bit like Mr. Clean already! What more effective advertising technique than creating a real-live counterpart for the famous cartoon logo?
Subway Sandwiches
2 of 5Subway often uses healthy eating and weight loss as one of its major marketing techniques.
Although no one could really call a professional basketball player "overweight," Love got serious during the offseason and returned 25 lbs lighter after the lockout.
Looking much more toned, athletic and full of energy, fans and media partners alike couldn't help but notice the new and improved Love.
Besides using the weight-loss line, fellow All-Star forward Blake Griffin also holds an endorsement with Subway. Griffin and Love have done a few ads together already, and the two prove to be a dynamic duo on screen.
Nike
3 of 5Love's numbers have only improved in his four years in the league, and it's about time he signed a major deal with a big-name shoe company.
A deal with Nike may be a bit harder to sell than my other ideas, being that Love continues to play for a losing team. Consequently, he hasn't quite garnered the respect of other All-Star athletes and MVPs.
However, if the Timberwolves can pull it together next year and Love leads his squad to contend in the playoffs, the "Just Do It" slogan would perfectly fit for a newly endorsed forward.
His Own Cologne Deal
4 of 5We've already seen the artificial Numb#rs cologne ad created as part of a Timberwolves campaign in 2011, and it wasn't too shabby.
The UCLA forward seems to love (no pun intended) the camera, and the camera loves him. He definitely has the look of an editorial ad model, and a cologne company should capitalize on the marketing opportunity.
Hasbro Games
5 of 5Kevin Love and Blake Griffin were excellent in their Jenga commercials, attracting lots of views and shares on social media sites.
It would be a big seller if Love appeared in ads playing other Hasbro games such as Candy Land, Clue or Monopoly.
