College Football Recruiting 2013: Examining Michigan's 11 ESPNU 150 Commits

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Michigan is off to a sizzling start in 2013 recruiting. Last week we discussed which programs are dominating the ESPNU 150 list, and the Big Blue was atop the list, with 11 commitments on the list already.

For this read, I am just going to tell you about each Michigan recruit in the ESPNU 150. Brady Hoke is doing a great job on the trail this year, and here are the 11 prime-time prospects he's already gobbled up.

Here we go!

11. Patrick Kugler, OG

1 of 11

I'm a big fan of Kugler. The Pennsylvania native is the son of a coach and plays the game with a tough mentality. 6'4" and 275 pounds, he plays tackle right now, but many feel he'll be a guard.

Kugler is a nasty man in the trenches, has excellent technique and is very strong. He moves well for a big man and will finish as a drive blocker.

10. Taco Charlton, DE

2 of 11

An Ohio native, Charlton goes 6'6", 240 pounds and has excellent length, size and reach. He shows the ability to stack and set the edge vs. the run. He can also anchor, shed and make a play.

Charlton is pretty quick off the line, can lean on tackles and has the athleticism and speed to chase from the backside. He'll be a solid pass-rusher, and his size will allow him to bat down balls if he stalls in his rush.

9. Kyle Bosch, OL

3 of 11

Some say Bosch can play OT, but I think he's a better OG prospect. RT is not out of the question, however. The 6'5", 290 pounder from Illinois is physical, nasty and will fight anyone, anywhere.

Bosch can get out of his stance, is a solid down blocker and can scoop and combo up to the second level to get up on linebackers. He'll move his feet and battle a rusher to protect his quarterback, and any chance he can finish and pop, he'll take it.

8. Jourdan Lewis, CB

4 of 11

Lewis is from Cass Tech in Detroit—which usually sends players to Ann Arbor—and he's next in line. A 5'10", 170 pound CB prospect, he's No. 107 on the ESPNU 150.

Lewis has a ton of confidence on the field and plays with a good amount of pure swag. He can make a play with the ball in hand and has great speed and quickness.

He's not a press corner. He plays better in off-man where he can use his read and react skills to make quick breaks on the ball.

7. Chris Fox, OL

5 of 11

Fox, No. 105 in the ESPNU 150, hails from Colorado, stands 6'5", 295 pounds and looks like a RT to me.

He's at his best when he can get his hands on a target and steer him in the direction Fox wants him to go.

He's big, tough and rugged in the trenches and looks to finish at every chance he can get. Fox has solid athleticism, but he likely won't be a LT in college.

Another great part of Fox's game is that he explodes at the point of attack.

6. Dymonte Thomas, DB

6 of 11

Thomas is from Ohio and goes 6'0", 185 pounds. He likely will become a safety but can also play RB, WR or CB.

Thomas plays with great speed, athleticism and quickness. He will mix it up with anybody and has good football instincts. If he's to become a safety, he'll need to work on his route recognition and zone awareness, but he has all the tools he needs to excel.

5. Logan Tulley-Tillman, OT

7 of 11

6'7" and about 315 pounds, Tulley-Tillman is a physical marvel of a player. He obviously has great length and size, but he's not a stiff on the field.

Tulley-Tillman will move his feet, slide, mirror and adjust well for a big man. His size also allows him to lean on targets, wear them down and finish. He will likely need to get stronger and also watch his weight at Michigan.

4. David Dawson, OG

8 of 11

No. 92 in the ESPNU 150, Dawson is a 6'3", 300 pounder, also from Detroit Cass Tech.

Dawson gets out of his stance and fires out with good pad level, is physical and has some shock and jolt at the point of attack.

He sets up well and quick as a pass protector. He has strength to anchor and to hold his ground, and he will factor in space.

3. Mike McCray, OLB

9 of 11

6'3", 225 pounds, McCray is a LB prospect from Ohio. He's a big 'backer, with great athleticism and the ability to factor big time vs. the pass.

McCray has quickness in his drops, can cover RBs and TEs well and has good ball skills. He could get a bit quicker at attacking the line of scrimmage vs. the run, but when he sees it, he'll plug a hole and be physical.

2. Gareon Conley, CB

10 of 11

6'1", 165 pounds, ESPNU is very high on Conley—they rank him at No. 65 on the ESPNU 150 board.

He's a tall and skinny corner, but this guy is a terrific athlete. He flashes excellent ball skills, coverage awareness, loose hips and play-making ability.

Conley has great instincts, reacts quickly and can close in a flash.

1. Shane Morris, QB

11 of 11

Morris is one of the best QBs in the country for 2013, and he is No. 37 on the ESPNU 150 board.

A lucky lefty, Morris has good arm strength, quick feet and a sharp delivery. He's 6'3", 190 pounds and is a pretty good athlete for the QB position.

He sees the field well and flashes mobility and escapability from the pocket. Morris also can scramble to buy time for his targets to adjust and get open.
