The Top 25 Committed College Football Recruits
Today, we arrived at the committed recruits board to take a look at which prospects are already off the board. Remember, even if a prospect is verbally committed, they still are free to take trips and even commit to another school before signing day.
Nonetheless, the following 25 players are the top recruits that have already made their choices. It's becoming more and more apparent that the trend in recruiting is for prospects to commit early.
These are 25 top prospects that did just that.
25. Kylie Fitts, DE
1 of 25Fitts is a 6'4", 260-pound DE prospect from California. He has a great motor, competes hard and flashes good athleticism on the edges. Fitts can play the weak or strong side DE spot, pressure the passer and anchor to combat the run.
Commitment: USC
24. Altee Tenpenny, RB
2 of 25Tenpenny is a 6'0", 205-pound rock toter with great speed and elusiveness. He can flash solid run strength, and I see his legs do have potential to get stronger and increase his tackle-breaking ability. Yet, Tenpenny's natural run instincts, quickness and speed are among the elite.
Commitment: Alabama
23. Kent Perkins, OL
3 of 25A Dallas native, the 6'6', 285-pound Perkins is one of the top OL's in the nation for 2013. He's light on his feet, has good agility and flashes natural pass protection skills. Perk' will compete as a drive blocker and has easy second level here and in space.
Commitment: Texas
22. Jalin Marshall, ATH
4 of 256'1", 190 pounds, Marshall is a dynamic offensive playmaker from Ohio. He can play dual-threat QB, RB or WR for an offense and is athletic enough to learn the DB trade as well. Marshall has great creativity and instincts with the ball, speed, quickness and just knows how to get to the endzone.
Commitment: Ohio State
21. Derrick Griffin, WR/TE
5 of 25Griffin is a 6'6" pass-catching specialist that weighs nearly 220 pounds. Right now, he's a monster WR for his Texas high school, but it's not out of the question to see Griffin develop into a TE. He shows good speed for such a long-limbed athlete, a large catch radius and leaping ability.
Commitment: Texas A&M
20. Isaac Savaiinaea, LB
6 of 25Savaiinaea is rising up boards, as the 6'3', 230-pounder is the best LB prospect from Hawaii since Manti Te'o. Savaniinaea has good athleticism, can plug a hole and has the speed to get to the flanks on sweeps. He fits best as a Mike 'backer.
Commitment: Stanford
19. Greg Bryant, RB
7 of 25Bryant is a 5'10", 200-pound runner from Florida that simply attacks a front seven downhill with force and strength. He flashes an average burst, but Bryant can break tackles, finish runs and punish defenses. He's one of the true bell-cow backs in this year's class.
Commitment: Oklahoma
18. Ahmad Fullwood, WR
8 of 256'4", 200 pounds, Fullwood is a glider on the offensive perimeter. He shows smooth athleticism, is quicker than you think and has a long strike zone. Fullwood flashes deep speed when he can build up off the line and has the size to shield away defenders from the ball with ease.
Commitment: Florida
17. Shane Morris, QB
9 of 25Sugar Shane is one of the top signal-callers in the nation. A good leader, Morris is a southpaw that has great arm strength on a 6'3", 185-pound frame. His best trait is his ability to set up and fire quickly and his solid feet. Morris can escape the pocket, attack the edges and make great throws on the run when forced.
Commitment: Michigan
16. Joey Bosa, DL
10 of 25A fresh commitment, Bosa pledged to Ohio State over the weekend. A Florida native, the 6'5", 265-pounder can play strong side DE or kick inside to DT. Bosa has solid athleticism, play strength and motor to penetrate and menace an offensive front down after down.
Commitment: Ohio State
15. Darius James, OC
11 of 25A big interior prospect at 6'5", 320 pounds, James is athletic enough to man the pivot position for a front. He shows good foot quickness, agility, the ability to make several types of blocks and solid pass protection skills in a short area.
Commitment: Texas
14. Daniel McMillan, LB
12 of 25McMillan can play any of the three LB spots in a 4-3, as the 6'2", 220-pounder is an athletic and stout second-level defender. McMillan is quick read and react, will challenge in a run alley and has good play range. He also has the athleticism to become an effective zone defender vs. the pass.
Commitment: Florida
13. Jake Raulerson, OT
13 of 25A 6'5", 250-pounder, Raulerson could as well be easily listed as an ATH. He can play an array of positions, as he's a very athletic big man with good feet, agility, balance and is just a nasty and mean son of a gun. Look for him to get his first crack as an LT.
Commitment: Texas
12. O.J. Howard, TE
14 of 25Howard is a super athletic player that has lit up the camps and combines circuit already. He stands a towering 6'5", 225 pounds and is as agile as a cheetah. Howard can play TE, DE or OLB for you and excel at any of those positions with ease.
Commitment: Alabama
11. Keith Ford, RB
15 of 25One of the elite RB's in this year's class, Ford is a 5'11", 195-pound runner from Texas. He shows a quick burst to and through holes, the ability run through contact and break a tackle to penalize a leaky yardage tackler. Ford also has among the best awareness and vision of any runner in the country.
Commitment: Oklahoma
10. Derrick Henry, RB
16 of 25Another RB on this list, Henry is among the biggest in the country, but he may play among the fastest too. 6'3", 240 pounds, Henry can simply out run defenses at his size, which makes you just shake your head. He's deceptively agile and has great instincts.
Commitment: Georgia
9. Dee Liner, DT
17 of 25A 6'4", 270-pounder, Liner is an athletic DT that can also play DE for you. He reminds me a little bit of Fletcher Cox in the sense of he can one-gap well and slip through blocks to make plays in the backfield for losses. Liner should be a major player in college.
Commitment: Auburn
8. Adam Breneman, TE
18 of 25The nation's best TE checks in at this slot for now. A 6'5", 225-pounder, Breneman is a natural pass catching seam player that can also be flexed out to WR. He's easily a move/joker type that can align and be deployed all over the field. His length, soft hands and catch in crowd ability should make him a prime time target.
Commitment: Penn State
7. Thomas Tyner, RB
19 of 25If Tyner can stay healthy, he has a great future ahead of him. 6'0" and 205 pounds, Tyner could be the fastest football player in America for 2013. He can blow by anybody, pull away in the open field and score at will.
Defenses that let him square his shoulders up are asking for trouble, as Tyner shows solid vision, quickness and elusiveness.
Commitment: Oregon
6. Patrick Kugler, OG
20 of 25Kugler plays OT for his Pennsylvania high school, but he projects best to OG in college, and he should be a good one. 6'4", 270 pounds, Kugler is the son of a coach, has excellent technique, is strong on his feet and can maul in the run game.
Commitment: Michigan
5. Ricky Seals-Jones, WR
21 of 256'5", 220 pounds, Seals-Jones plays QB right now, but will be a pass-catcher in college. He's going to get his first look at receiver, but don't be shocked to see him leave school as a TE. A fantastic athlete, Seals-Jones has good speed, agility and is a playmaker with the ball.
Commitment: Texas
4. Kenny Bigelow, DL
22 of 25Bigelow can play the three-technique or become a strong side DE. He goes 6'3", 285 pounds, is an outstanding physical athlete, has elite snap quickness and a big time competitive drive. Bigelow is physical, will get into a blocker's body, get out and has a burst to finish to make a play.
Commitment: USC
3. Tyrone Swoopes, QB
23 of 25A big-time dual-threat QB, Swoopes is the top player in Texas this year. The 6'5", 220-pounder has a super high ceiling, as he flashes a strong arm, athleticism to escape the rush and the ability to simply dazzle as a runner. Could be the next Vince Young in Austin?
Commitment: Texas
2. Max Browne, QB
24 of 25A 6'5", 210-pounder with great mechanics, a quick release, arm strength and good accuracy? That's Browne for you in a nutshell. He does a solid job of making good decision, has a great feel for the game and sees the field well.
Browne takes care of the football, evidenced by tossing only seven interceptions last season.
Commitment: USC
1. Reuben Foster, LB
25 of 25Foster is a war-daddy at the LB spot. 6'2" and nearly 245 pounds, he's better than Reggie Ragland and Kwon Alexander. Foster is very athletic, strong, has great tackling technique, doesn't back down from an OL or FB in a hole, sheds well and makes stops like a wall.
He also has great range and the athleticism and agility to even develop into a standout pass defender.
Commitment: Alabama
