Boston Celtics Continue Great Play, Beat Miami Heat Again
The Boston Celtics will win the NBA championship if they continue to play the way they have the past few games, and tonight especially. Their 115-107 beating of the Miami Heat kept their win streak alive at three games and was also the second time the Celtics have beat the Heat in the past nine days.
You couldn't exactly call it domination because the Heat did put up a good fight, LeBron James especially with 36 points. However, the Celtics played about as well as they could have on the offensive end, shooting over 60 percent from the field and from three.
One of the men most responsible for the Celtics' great shooting was Kevin Garnett who netted 24 points on an incredible 11-14 shooting from the floor including a stretch in the fourth quarter where he looked like he couldn't miss.
It wasn't just Garnett though; in fact, every player contributed and that was the main component behind the big win. Pierce led the team in scoring with 27 points including three fast-break trailer threes. Meanwhile, every other starter scored in double-digits, with Rondo also dishing out double-digit assists as well to increase his streak of 10+ assist games to 18 games.
The three players coming off the bench, Ray Allen, Sasha Pavlovic and Greg Stiemsma, also scored nine, six and eight points respectively.
Perhaps most notably though, the Celtics out-rebounded the Heat 40-35 in the game. Which, although Miami is not necessarily known for its rebounding, is still an accomplishment for a Celtics team that has struggled mightily on the boards.
That good rebounding, combined with the great shooting and solid play from just about everyone, makes this one of the best games that the Celtics have played this season. And this win was no fluke; in fact they beat the Heat just nine days before and have played as well as anyone since the All-Star break. They are peaking at the right time and really look poised to make a big run in the playoffs with another great win against a quality opponent.
