College Football Recruiting 2013: 5 Prospects Looking to Repeat Monster Seasons
It's easy to forget that these prospects actually play when we mostly focus on their recruitment. We tend to focus more on where they're visiting, what offers they have, leaders, top five lists and, finally, where they're going rather than their play on the field.
For this read, I'm going to give you five elite prospects who not only are among the best in the country but also had monster seasons last year that they will try to repeat and even top in 2012.
Let's begin.
5. Derrick Henry, RB
1 of 5Henry will come into this season for Yulee High School in Florida looking to repeat a fantastic junior season that saw him rush for 2,610 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Henry has been committed to Georgia since last season began, and the 6'3", 240-pounder is a better player than he was last year.
4. Justin Davis, RB
2 of 5All eyes will be on Davis in Stockton this fall, since he has become a 5-star prospect per Scout.com and has netted a slew of big-time offers from the nation's best programs.
As a junior, all Davis did was rush for 2,380 yards and 36 touchdowns to light up Central California competition.
Look for him to come into this 2012 season and top that feat at Lincoln High School.
3. Reuben Foster, LB
3 of 5Our first defender on the list, Foster is the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation. He plays LB, RB and DE for his prep squad, but he'll be a MLB in college and is headed to Alabama.
Foster's sophomore year at Troup County High School in Georgia saw him net 112 tackles. Great season, right?
Well, all Foster did as a junior was tally up 185 tackles—144 solo, 34 for a loss—and chip in 18 sacks.
Are 200 tackles and 20 sacks in store for Foster in 2012?
2. Ty Isaac, RB
4 of 5Last year, Ty Isaac averaged 12 yards a carry.
Twelve yards a carry, folks—wowsers.
This 6'3", 220-pound runner totaled 2,114 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior, and the hype surrounding his recruitment surely will fuel his motivation to repeat another monster season.
Can Isaac get 50 touchdowns and 2,500 yards in Joilet's Wing-T-esque offense?
1. Max Browne, QB
5 of 5The nation's No. 1 QB is tops on this list because, well, he's the nation's No. 1 QB.
Last year, Browne tossed for 4,034 yards and 45 touchdowns with just seven INTs.
In 2012, I'm looking for 4,500 yards, 50 touchdowns and no more than four picks from Browne, as his Skyline High School team in Washington will look to get back to the state title game this season.
