New Nicknames for the 5 Most Popular NBA Players
I couldn’t include everyone, so I know I’ll see comments that look like this: “Blake Griffin?” or “Russell Westbrook?”
Let me take this time to expand upon the video and give these two young stars their due.
Blake Griffin is perhaps the most exciting player in the game now, from a pure raw athleticism standpoint. The violent and ferocious nature that he dunks on opposing big men is bananas.
For that reason, I think the nickname Shang Tsung is appropriate.
Why?
Shang Tsung is a legendary character from the video game Mortal Kombat. MK is known for its finishing moves, known as Fatalities. In Tsung’s final maneuver, he takes his opponent’s soul.
As I watch what Blake did to both Kendrick Perkins and Pau Gasol, I can’t help but think, for that brief moment, Blake snatched their souls.
As for Russ, he is also a ferocious and relentless attacker. But, he does so to his own detriment at times. For that reason, he reminds me of the X-Men’s Wolverine. He’s cool as all get out, but his decision making still leaves a bit to be desired.
