Knicks vs. Bulls: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Matt ShetlerApr 9, 2012

You can go ahead and call Sunday's win over the Chicago Bulls a playoff game for the New York Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony made a statement with a 43-point effort and led the Knicks to a 100-99 overtime victory over the Bulls just a day ago. Now they have to do it all over again.

The two teams meet again on Tuesday, it what also is a must-win situation for the Knicks, who lead the Milwaukee Bucks by only one game for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Currently, the Knicks sit tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for the No. 7 seed, but are only a game away from being out of the mix all together.

Sunday was a tough loss for the Bulls, who trailed by 21 in the first quarter, fought back to lead by 10 in the fourth, then lost for the third time in four games despite having their starting five together for only the 11th time this season.

That means the league's reigning MVP in point guard Derrick Rose, who returned to the Bulls lineup after missing 12 consecutive games with a groin injury.

This time, though, the Knicks will have to get it done on the road, where they are only 10-17 on the season, and the Bulls are an impressive 22-6.

We could be looking at a first-round playoff preview, and the Knicks made the early statement that it won't be an easy series for Chicago if that should happen. With that being said, here's everything you need to know about Tuesday's heavyweight fight.

What They're Saying

"This is my house!"

That's what Anthony screamed after the Knicks win on Sunday and the crowd at Madison Square Garden erupted with everyone of Melo's 43 points in a Knicks win.

Anthony needed that moment, because while being the Knicks' best player, he hasn't really had that defining moment until now. Now Anthony can truly call the Garden home.

"That's the way the Garden's supposed to be," Anthony said to ESPN's Johnette Howard.

But Anthony also knows that the Knicks have more work to do against the Bulls on not only Tuesday, but possibly in the postseason, also telling the Associated Press.

"

"This was a playoff game. We have a chance, we might play these guys in the playoffs if we keep doing what we're doing and get that seed, so this was a big statement game for us and we willed this one tonight," Anthony said.

Most Important Player to Watch: Carmelo Anthony

These are the moments that the Knicks acquired Anthony for. Now it's up to Melo to continue to deliver, and he's been on a tear lately.

Overall, it's been a tough season for Anthony, especially after returning from a groin injury on February 20. Over the next 17 games, Melo averaged just 16.9 points on 40 percent shooting. But since Lin went out with a torn meniscus on March 24, Anthony has returned to form, scoring 29.9 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field.

If the game is close, keep your eyes on Anthony as no one in the NBA is better in tight situations.

Anthony has gone 24-of-52 from the field in game-tying or go-ahead situations in the last 15 seconds of fourth quarter or overtime over the last 10 seasons. Among players that have taken at least 20 field goal attempts over that span, Anthony ranks first in field goal percentage (46.2).

He needs to stay hot for the Knicks to go into Chicago and come out with a win.

Key Matchup: Derrick Rose vs. Baron Davis

Rose scored 29 points in his return to the lineup, but turned the ball over eight times on Sunday. He's going to have to take much better care of the basketball on Tuesday for the Bulls to come out with a win.

Davis, on the other hand, is going to have his hands full again with Rose. The Knicks need more than 1-of-7 shooting and four turnovers from their starting point guard, but keeping Rose in check may be the bigger chore for all of the Knicks point guards.
