USC Football Recruiting: Trojans Land Huge Verbal from 4-Star Cornerback
Sometimes dreams do come true.
At least that is what Scout.com 4-star cornerback Chris Hawkins had to say after giving a verbal commitment to the Trojans late Sunday afternoon.
After being named the MVP of the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp, Hawkins had this to say, "It's been a big day for me, winning MVP, but also for my dream of playing at USC."
And that's not all. According to an article by Scout.com, Hawkins will immediately get to work recruiting other Trojan targets, starting with his good friend, safety Tahaan Goodman.
Interestingly, Hawkins was set to commit to Stanford before receiving an offer from the school he grew up idolizing.
Said Hawkins, "I was all set to commit to Stanford but then when USC offered, all my life I wanted to play for the Trojans," said Hawkins. "We're a Trojan family and that's where I always wanted to go."
In Hawkins, the Trojans are getting an outstanding cornerback who has good size (6'0", 170 lbs) and excellent technique, along with great hands.
He is also a stellar return man and that versatility will be a boon to the Trojans who are still mired in scholarship reductions.
Hawkins had over two dozen offers in his pocket, including those from major programs like Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
