College Football Recruiting 2013: 5 Dream Matchups We'd Love to See

Edwin WeathersbyApr 1, 2012

If you're a big fan of recruiting, and especially a fan that's been following it for a number of years, haven't you ever wondered what would happen if a top recruit at one position faced off against a top recruit at an opposing position?

Sometimes we get these matchups in a camp or combine setting, but it's very, very rare because recruits/prospects live all around in different parts of the country.

But for this read, I'm bringing them all under one setting and giving you five prime-time dream matchups that we'd all absolutely love to see.

5. Reuben Foster (LB) vs. Derrick Henry and Ty Isaac (RBs)

1 of 5

Foster is the best linebacker in the country and goes 6'2" and 240 pounds. He really plugs holes and is known to play with excellent tackling technique, strength and is a thumper.

Isaac is a big back at 6'3" and 220 pounds, and Henry goes even larger at 6'3", 240 pounds.

Wouldn't it be a treat to see Foster meet head up with these two in a couple run alleys, live? Also, both Isaac and Henry have great speed to the flanks; Foster has great range.

Seeing how Foster tracks them on outside runs to see which player gets to the edges faster would be awesome.

4. Vernon Hargreaves III (CB) vs. Robert Foster (WR)

2 of 5

This would be an interesting matchup because I would like to see if Hargreaves would choose to press Foster at the line or give him cushion.

Foster has the best release quickness of any WR in the country and goes 6'2", 190 pounds. However, Hargreaves is the son of a coach, has excellent instincts and technique at 5'10", 180 pounds.

Would deep speed and explosiveness beat out technique and instincts?

3. Rober Nkemdiche (DL) vs. Laremy Tunsil (OT)

3 of 5

Nkemdiche is just a warrior of a player, and I don't think anyone in this OL class can really block him one-on-one. He commands a constant double team plus a chip by the RBs on pass plays.

The 6'5", 270-pound Nkemdiche would face off against the 6'6", 285-pound Tunsil, who has great athleticism. Tunsil surely would not win this with technique because he's still raw.

However, seeing how Nkemdiche fares against a blocker with Tunsil's sheer athleticism and agility would be neat.

2. Cameron Burrows (DB) vs. Ricky Seals-Jones (WR)

4 of 5

I like this matchup because of the size factor by both players. Burrows is a big DB that can play CB at 6'2", 195 pounds. He has excellent speed and the size to combat Seals-Jones, who goes 6'5", 215 pounds.

Seals-Jones is still learning how to work and refine himself as a WR, but he has good ball skills, speed and his length is obviously a problem for DBs.

But a big DB like Burrows could hang with him, and it would be very cool to see to two big-framed athletes at skill positions doing work vs. each other.

1. Kenny Bigelow (DL) vs. Patrick Kugler (OG)

5 of 5

This battle would not be for the faint of heart in the trenches, folks. Kugler is just downright nasty as a blocker and has great technique. Bigelow is a super-quick and strong player that can get in a blocker's body.

6'4", 270 pounds, Kugler figures to work as a guard in college, while Bigelow could play either DT or kick outside to DE at 6'3", 285 pounds.

The first thing to see would be to see who wins at the snap. Would Bigelow be able to jump Kugler off the ball? Then which player has more leverage? Who is working more physically? Then whose feet are quicker?

Wow, so much to look at this matchup, which for me, is my dream matchup right now!
