College Football Recruiting 2013: Nike LA, VTO Previews for March 31 and April 1

Wes ODonnellJun 3, 2018

Another week has passed through the halls of high schools across America and another weekend of high school football camps and combines are set to begin.

Last week, Nike Football Training Camp and Rivals VTO circuits got their starts in Dallas, Georgia and Alabama respectively and now they're in Los Angeles, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Some of the best of the West will be on hand in City of Angels while a few from the South and East are going to make their presence felt in the Carolinas. There will be no shortage of big names on hand and we could even get a few announcements.

Rivals VTO South Carolina (York, South Carolina--York High--March 31)

The most exciting player expected in York is actually 2014 wide receiver Aggadoria Bowers, cousin of former Clemson star Da'Quan Bowers.

The crop of 2013 recruits present include Rivals 3-star safety Justin Bridges-Thompson of Spartanburg, SC; athlete Marcus Edmond of Hopkins, SC; and Rivals 3-star linebacker Jalen Stevens.

Bridges-Thompson holds a handful of offers from the likes of Arizona, N.C. State, Wake Forest and Pittbsurgh while Edmond just recently picked up offer No. 1 from Arizona.

Stevens has one offer from North Carolina, but has interest from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Rivals VTO North Carolina (Charlotte, North Carolina--Mallard Creek--April 1)

The top player expected in North Carolina is Rivals 4-star wide receiver Marquez North of hosting school Mallard Creek. At 6'3", 205 pounds, North has offers from a number of major programs like Auburn, Ohio State, UNC, Michigan, Florida and Tennessee.

Another product of Mallard Creek is Rivals 4-star cornerback Brian Walker, a recent UNC commit.

Linebacker LaChaston Smith of South Iredell, NC, a Rivals 3-star linebacker, will also be on hand. He has offers from the likes of Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Nike Football Training Camp (Los Angeles, California--Cerritos College--April 1)

The best player expected in LA is linebacker Michael Hutchings of De La Salle (Concord, CA). A top-three linebacker in the country, Hutchings a Rivals 4-star recruit, has double digit offers from the likes of USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, California, Oklahoma, Nebraska and many more. He's a gifted player who could be a star rather quickly at the next level.

There are a number of top-tier secondary players set to compete as well. Tempe, Arizona star Priest Willis, a Rivals 4-star recruit, will be there as well as Rancho Cucamonga, California teammates and Rivals 4-stars Tahaan Goodman and Chris Hawkins. Goodman was just offered by USC this week and Hawkins is set to announce his commitment Sunday between USC and Stanford.

Mission Viejo, California star Max Redfield, a 4-star safety with offers from the likes of USC, Cal, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and Tennessee.

The defensive players are the biggest names, but offensively there will be some stars, too, led by 4-star quarterback Troy Williams of Harbor City, California.

All in all, it will be a busy week for talent evaluators, college football programs and top recruits across the country. We've already seen sparks fly from the first weekend of performances and we can expect much of the same this weekend.

You can catch me talking football and throwing seven different kinds of smoke on Twitter.
