Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Top 15 Career Goals
For all the controversy he generates, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of best strikers of the past several years.
The Swede has a tremendous first touch that almost never lets him down, great height and leaping ability to help him win aerial duels and a thunderous shot that is unstoppable when on target.
For evidence of his quality, one must only look at the records of Ibrahimovic's past teams. The teams that have employed him for the past eight years has won their respective domestic titles.
In the illustrious career of such a fantastic striker, there have been some very memorable goals, and here we shall take a trip down Memory Lane with 15 of the best individual moments of Ibrahimovic's career.
AC Milan 1-0 Lecce
Here, against Lecce, Ibrahimovic shows tremendous pace in beating several defenders when chasing a long boot downfield, wonderful close control to bring it down, and unbelievable finishing ability.
Almost all of Ibra's favorable attributes encapsulated in one wonderful strike from 30 yards out.
Inter Milan 2-0 Fiorentina
Here Ibrahimovic shows that when you manage to stop him in open play, he can beat you just as easily through set-pieces.
Have a look at this thunderbolt. T
he keeper behaved much like I would in this situation—flapping helplessly and falling down as the ball cracks the crossbar and goes in.
To score an unstoppable free-kick from 32 yards out is no easy feat.
AC Milan 1-0 Fiorentina
I think the self-assisted scissor kick speaks for itself here, especially from a man so large.
To be able to pull off this trick is incredible, and it shows Ibrahimovic's agility and creativity.
Inter Milan 1-0 Palermo
Ibrahimovic is a goal-poacher at heart.
Here, when he receives the ball against Palermo in what would appear to be a prohibitive position on the outside of the opponents' box, scoring was the only thing on his mind.
He promptly tees up the shot and unleashes an unstoppable rocket just inside the post. Classic.
Ajax 4-1 NAC Breda
Is that Lionel Messi or Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
As the latter darts, swerves and dribbles through the entire Breda defence, it is pretty hard to tell.
This was a younger Ibra, before he became a mercenary for hire.
This still must rank as one of the best goals he has scored throughout his career.
AC Milan 2-0 Lecce
Ibrahimovic just loves scoring against Lecce, apparently.
On the half-volley, the Swede stroked a beautiful first-time shot into the net just inside the post with such power that the goalkeeper had no chance. Pure class from the striker.
Barcelona 2-0 Real Zaragoza
Any time a ball is kicked so hard at a professional goalkeeper that, despite his best efforts, he cannot keep the ball out of the net, it is a special moment.
Zlatan had one of those moments when he blasted a free-kick at something approaching supersonic speeds at a keeper so helpless he could only try and parry this shot into the top of his own net.
Barcelona 1-0 Arsenal
Less than 30 seconds after the start of the second half in this Champions League clash with Arsenal, Ibrahimovic delivered one of the classiest strikes of his career.
Receiving a long ball from his own half, his touch and ability to beat Manuel Almunia while at full sprint is incredible, especially because he makes it seem so easy when, in fact, it is one of the hardest moves in all of football.
Inter 1-0 Bologna
How many times have you seen a back-heel volley executed to perfection like that at the near post?
AC Milan 2-0 Cesena
Running at full speed, Ibrahimovic somehow manages to sneak this inside the opposite post during injury time, no less.
The roundhouse kicking of the corner flag afterwards is also one of my favorite goal celebrations.
Inter Milan 2-0 Reggina
In the ranks of chipped goals, this one can be categorized in the "Messi Echelon."
Outside of the penalty box, Ibrahimovic uses his weaker left foot to somehow both get the ball over the keeper and land it in the upper corner of the goal. Truly top drawer.
Sweden 1-0 Greece
Enough with the club goals, let's get some of Zlatan's international work in here.
Against Greece on the biggest of stages during Euro 2008, Ibrahimovic somehow got his body around the ball and laced a pinpoint shot to give Sweden the lead against Greece.
Sweden 2-1 Hungary
Sure, it might have come off his hand, but there is nothing quite like scoring a last-minute winner to lift your country to victory.
After a long run and some nifty skill, Ibra was rewarded with just that feeling of ecstasy.
Ajax 1-0 AZ Alkmaar
A last-ditch bicycle kick in a crowded area while being pulled down by a defender.
What an unbelievably acrobatic effort from such a big man under such unfavorable conditions. Truly one of the best of Ibrahimovic's career and it came when his star was just getting off the ground.
Juventus 1-0 Benfica
From about 35 yards out, Ibrahimovic's ridiculous volleyed goal is simply sensational. And the amazement doesn't stop there, because this somehow managed to beat the keeper at his near post.
