Bruce Irvin Arrested: NFL Draft Prospect Arrested for Destruction of Property

Former West Virginia University defensive end Bruce Irvin has been arrested in Morgantown, W. Va., for destruction of property. According to the West Virginia Metro News, the defensive end prospect reportedly broke a sign at the Jimmy John's sandwich shop on High Street and has been charged with destruction of property and disorderly conduct.

While the incident is bad enough to blemish a reputation, the timing of the incident couldn’t have been any worse. With Irvin running an amazing 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, teams were lining up around the block to talk to the pass-rushing specialist.

Depending on the facts about the incident that come out, this could be the kind of blow that, coupled with a poor effort in his final college season, could send the young man’s draft stock plummeting.

Irvin has been all over the board the last two seasons at West Virginia. While his 14 sacks in 2010 had many people stunned at how good he could be, a subpar 2011 that saw only 8.5 sacks and him sitting in the second half of a few games has the same people on the fence about his skills.

The young defensive lineman comes from a rough background but has made himself over into the man that steps onto that field every game. With that said, teams will be concerned about the possibility of success bringing him back into a bad lifestyle.

As in every case like this, it’s important for teams to check all of the facts before passing judgment, but the fact the young defensive prospect even put himself in that position is enough to warrant some legitimate concern.
