20 College Football Players We Wouldn't Want to Tick off
As the 2012 season inches closer and closer, fans are about to see a whole new season with different twists and turns.
While watching the highlight runs and passes are fun, college football fans love tuning in and seeing a huge hit that could possibly switch the momentum of the entire game. One hit could send a message to an entire sideline.
Here is a look at 20 players that you should do your best in trying to stay on their good side and not tick them off.
Tyrann Mathieu
1 of 20Some guys intimidate you with their size or strength, and then there are some guys that will just wear you down. Tyrann Mathieu is one of those guys, and as people learned in 2011, what the Honey Badger wants, the Honey Badger takes.
Getting on the wrong side of Mathieu would not be advised, as the corner will get after you and wear you out.
Terrell Brown
2 of 20Lets be honest, if you ran into a guy that was 6'10" and 377 pounds, it would scare the crap out of most of us.
Last year, Terrell Brown was better known for crushing a sideline chair when trying to sit on it, but you didn't see too many people laughing about it to his face.
Marcus Lattimore
3 of 20The one unique thing about Marcus Lattimore is the style in which he runs. While Lattimore has all the moves necessary to be a outstanding back, he also has the power and strength to run through players.
While Lattimore missed the majority of 2011 with a knee injury, he still should be able to bring that physical presence to the field in 2012.
Jarvis Jones
4 of 20SEC quarterbacks are very familiar with Jarvis Jones and his hard-hitting ability. Last year, Jones was all over the offense as a sophomore and should only get better as a junior at Georgia.
If you are an opposing quarterback, Jones might be a player that you should avoid talking garbage to, as he will make you pay with a big hit.
Gerald Hodges
5 of 20One of the main reasons that Penn State stayed in the Big Ten race as long as they did was because of their defense that was led by players like Gerald Hodges.
Hodges is an outstanding outside linebacker that returned from injury in 2010 to have an outstanding 2011. His tenacity and strength are two things that would make him dangerous should you get on his bad side.
William Gholston
6 of 20William Gholston is one of the hardest hitting players in the nation, and the Michigan State defense feeds off of his energy.
Gholston goes hard from whistle to whistle, and if you get him going, you better have your head on a swivel because he will be coming for you.
John Boyett
7 of 20John Boyett is a human missile. Boyett has spent his career in the Oregon secondary having no regard for his body and doing everything he can do to stop an opposing player.
On a play to play basis, you can find Boyett flying to the ball and always looking to lay a huge hit on an offensive player.
Barrett Jones
8 of 20Barrett Jones is another guy that will intimidate with his size and strength. Jones was a key part to the Crimson Tide offensive line and should be even better during the 2012 season.
With his ability to open up large holes and protect the quarterback, Jones is a mountain of a man and would be more than happy to put you on your back.
Matt Barkley
9 of 20Matt Barkley makes this list on an interesting premise. Barkley is an outstanding quarterback that is coming back for his senior season.
While Barkley is not a known tough guy, he is still someone you do not want to go out and challenge. Should you get in Barkley's face, he will torch your defense and embarrass you on national television as he throws for touchdown after touchdown.
Alex Hurst
10 of 20LSU has their own version of Barrett Jones, and his name is Alex Hurst. Hurst is an outstanding lineman who does a great job of keeping his quarterback upright.
With a 6'6", 340-pound frame, Hurst is a huge force to be dealt with and is certainly not someone you want to piss off.
Fabbians Ebbele
11 of 20Fabbians Ebbele is not only a big guy, but has a short fuse. Less than a week ago, he and three other Wildcat players were arrested for their part in a fight and also for criminal trespassing.
We can all learn a lesson here. Make sure you invite Ebbele to your party, you will not like his reaction if you didn't.
Arthur Brown
12 of 20Arthur Brown has the athleticism to play almost any position on the defensive side of the ball. Brown has amazing speed and strength and was one of the major reasons that the Kansas State defense found the success that they did.
Brown has enough potential that in 2012, he could win the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.
Bacarri Rambo
13 of 20With a name like Rambo, are you really looking to upset this man? Bacarri Rambo is one of the safeties in the Georgia secondary and is a fearless hitter.
After a solid junior season, Rambo certainly had the physical tools to go pro, but SEC receivers beware: The safety is back and looking to add to his highlight reel.
Jadeveon Clowney
14 of 20At 6'6" and over 250, Jadeveon Clowney is one of the most dynamic athletes in the nation, and he is only a sophomore.
Clowney plays on the end and strikes fear into the heart of every quarterback he gets after. With his speed and strength, it does not take much for Clowney to get to the ball-carrier and put a huge hit on.
Marcus Coker
15 of 20Marcus Coker would be a dangerous guy to tick off. During the 2011 season, Coker was able to take a beating at running back for Iowa, and yet, he kept getting back up.
Along with having incredible heart, Coker has good speed and has a strong frame that helps him absorb some of those big blows.
John Simon
16 of 20While Ohio State may not have had a great season, John Simon was on top of his game, and unfortunately for Big Ten offenses, the defensive lineman is back for his senior season with the Buckeyes.
Simon showed some versatility this past year, as he played up and down the line, and his ability to blend perfectly into this positions shows off his athletic ability.
Simon may be quiet, but those are always the ones you want to worry about.
Jake Knott
17 of 20Getting on the bad side of a guy who had his shoulder come out of place multiple times in the 2011 season and yet didn't miss a single guy is not a good move for anyone.
While Jake Knott may not look like an intimidating player, his relentless work ethic and never-say-die attitude puts him on this list and has himself on many people's list as the toughest player in the nation.
Kenny Vaccaro
18 of 20After you hear this comment from Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, you tell me if this is someone you want to mess with, especially now that he is back for his senior season.
Diaz was quoted as saying that Vaccaro is "like a pack of rattlesnakes."
Have fun with that, Big 12 offenses.
Collin Klein
19 of 20At the center of Kansas State's success was quarterback Collin Klein. Much like Barkley, many would not think of Klein as someone they should steer clear of, but the reality is that Klein has no issues with lowering his shoulder and putting a hit on you.
Look for Klein to make life painful for defenses around the Big 12 in 2012.
Sean Porter
20 of 20While there may have been some dark moments for the Aggies last year, they generally did not include linebacker Sean Porter.
Porter had a great 2011 and was a major contributor to the pass-rush that Texas A&M was able to produce. He is receiving comparisons to Von Miller, which is high praise for anyone.
