South Carolina Football: Jadeveon Clowney Headed for Monster 2012 Season

Alex RobertsJun 7, 2018

Jadeveon Clowney is an athletic freak of nature, no doubt. He now weighs close to 270 pounds and still runs close to a 4.5 forty. He's the team power clean champion and is one of the most athletic people in the world.

His stats last year were enough to garner him National Freshman of the Year honors, however, some fans may have considered his year a disappointment.

He only had eight sacks and five forced fumbles.

Why not 100 sacks and 50 forced fumbles? That's what some people expected.

While some people had unreasonable expectations, Clowney met the realistic goals and expectations set forth by someone of his magnitude. He was a freshman game changing defensive end.

This year, with added muscle and football knowledge, he may become the best defensive end ever.

It's not unreasonable to think that Clowney could have a 20 sack season. It's not unreasonable to think that he could have 10 forced fumbles or even grab some interceptions. It's not unreasonable to think he could pick up linebacker tackle numbers from his defensive end position.

This speaks more to the untapped potential of the beast that is Jadeveon Clowney than the psychotic-ness of people's expectations.

After one year people have him pegged as the no-brainer No.1 draft pick in 2014. He could have been a first round draft pick this year.

Get ready for a historic season for one of the most exciting athletes college football has seen in ages.
