Ohio State Football Recruiting 2012: 5 Recruits Destined for Buckeye Stardom

Edwin WeathersbyFeb 27, 2012

The Buckeyes hauled themselves in a top 10 class this year, which is a big surprise since they went through a lot during this recruiting cycle and were barely in the top 25 a few months ago. But Urban Meyer came in and simply changed things.

Now, for this read, I'm going to dive into their 2012 recruiting class and give you some incoming freshmen that I feel will become stars in Columbus.

Let's get to it.

Watchlist

1 of 6

DE Se'Von Pittman

Pittman is an uber-athletic 6'4" pass-rusher who has a great burst at the snap and finish on the passer.

RB Brionte Dunn

Dunn will give Meyer a big back at 6'1", 220 pounds that will add another dynamic to the offense.

OLB Camren Williams

Williams is only 200 pounds right now, but his 6'2" frame has excellent play speed and range to make plays.

5. Armani Reeves, CB

2 of 6

When we look at corners, the first thing we want to know is, can they cover? Well, Reeves can do that, but he's also a very physical corner believe it or not.

At 5'10", 180 pounds, Reeves plays very physical at the line, loves to press and has great strength to re-rout and bully WRs in their routes. He has great speed to carry deep and the mirror/transition ability to be a sticky CB in the Big Ten.

He should be a starter one day.

4. Joshua Perry, OLB

3 of 6

Perry is a Buckeye and is such a Buckeye that I expect him to graduate and be there for four to five years. He committed to Ohio State and never wavered through the turmoil.

Yet, he's also a talented 6'3", 225-pound OLB prospect that has good athleticism, a great work ethic, production and solid speed. He has a chance to be a swing LB, where he can be versatile to start at either OLB spots or the Mike spot on a week-to-week basis.

Look for Perry to become a fan favorite.

3. Adolphus Washington, DE

4 of 6

At 6'5" and 255 pounds, Washington has all the tools to be an exceptional player in Columbus. In fact, he's going to be a star.

I think he has the talent to develop into a complete DE, as his size and added strength will allow him to combat the run with ease.

Yet Washington is also an outstanding athlete with a great first step, strength to convert speed to power and finish ability.

He's a future star, no doubt.

2. Warren Ball, RB

5 of 6

Ball stands 6'2", 200 pounds and really has a chance to help the BuckeyeS offense. He's a smooth and speedy runner with a great burst and can play all three downs.

What I like about Ball the most is his ability to contribute in the passing game. Ball has great hands for a RB and can factor on third downs.

Look for his all-around ability to make him a prime weapon down the line in the OSU offense, which will make him a star.

1. Noah Spence, DE

6 of 6

Spence has a chance to be an All-American—he has that good of an ability. He's 6'4", 240 pounds and can rush the passer with the best of 'em.

I think he kicks out to a stand up/rush end-type of position for Luke Fickell, but the position still highlights Spence's strengths. He can combat the run with speed and range to hawk down ball-carriers, and his athleticism could help OSU add in some zone blitz principles.

Spence is going to be a star, probably a superstar.
