Notre Dame Football Recruiting 2013 : A Look at the Top Offensive Targets

Connor KillorenFeb 26, 2012

National signing day 2012 has come and gone, but it's never too early to begin taking a look at the class of 2013.

The Irish are already hot on the trail, having locked up one commitment in Midland, Michigan, offensive lineman Steven Elmer.

Brian Kelly and Co. are likely to piece together another top-10 class, as they've offered a number of the nation's top prospects.

Who else are the Irish after?

Follow along to find out.

Mike Williams, WR

1 of 8

The Irish have made an offer for  Mike Williams, a 6'4", 185-pound receiver out of Lake Marion High School in Santee, South Carolina.

Rivals.com and Scout.com each rate Williams as a 4-star prospect.

According to Scout.com, Williams hauled in 65 receptions for 1,269 yards and 12 touchdowns during his junior season.

He also registered 25 tackles on defense.

Other schools who have offered Williams include Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston is personally recruiting Mike Williams.

Uriah LeMay, WR

2 of 8

Notre Dame is tapping into its connections in the state of North Carolina in an attempt to reel in wide receiver Uriah LeMay.

LeMay attends Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina, which is the same high school former Irish cornerback Robert Blanton attended.

Should the Irish secure a commitment from LeMay, he'd be a perfect fit in Brian Kelly's offense. At 6'2" and 188 pounds, LeMay has prototypical size for a receiver in the spread offense.

He has also been clocked at 4.54 seconds in the 40-yard dash—a time which he is likely to improve upon in the coming months.

LeMay has received offers from a slew of the nation's premier programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Oklahoma, among others.

Mike Elston is personally recruiting LeMay, as well.

Matt Alviti, QB

3 of 8

Notre Dame's top quarterback target in the class of 2013, Matt Alviti, is attracting loads of attention from programs in the Midwest.

The Park Ridge, Illinois, native has received offers from Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Purdue thus far.

Size may be a concern for Alviti, who was measured at 6'0" and 176 pounds as a high school junior. His time of 4.6 in the 40-yard dash has also been of concern to some.

Alviti's decision is likely to come down to Northwestern and Notre Dame.

Ty Isaac, RB

4 of 8

One of the top running backs in the class of 2013, Ty Isaac has already received an offer from Notre Dame.

The Joliet, Illinois, product has earned 4-star accolades from Rivals.com.

Isaac has scary size for a running back, as he has been measured at 6'3" and 215 pounds.

That size helped Isaac rush for 2,114 yards on 178 carries during his junior year. However, those numbers don't do him justice. He averaged 11.9 yards per carry and reached the end zone 45 times.

Because of those lofty numbers, Isaac has earned offers from most of the nation's major programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC and Wisconsin, among others.

Offensive coordinator Chuck Martin is handling Isaac's recruitment for the Irish.

Ethan Pocic, OL

5 of 8

Lemont, Illinois, native Ethan Pocic was offered early by Notre Dame, perhaps giving the Irish the upper leg in his recruitment.

The massive offensive lineman, who checks in at 6'7" and 285 pounds, has a relatively short offer list, as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, USC and Wisconsin seem to be the major players for Pocic.

Rivals.com has rated Pocic as a 4-star prospect. The site also lists Chuck Martin as being his personal recruiter for Notre Dame.

Adam Breneman, TE

6 of 8

Possibly the top tight end in the class of 2013, Adam Breneman is being pursued by nearly every program in America.

His list of offers spans from coast to coast, which is too extensive to list here. The list can be found on his Rivals.com profile, though.

Breneman, a 6'5", 220-pound freak athlete, snagged 72 receptions for 1,120 yards and 12 touchdowns during his junior season at Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Irish may have an in with Breneman, as the program was able to reel in Oil City, Pennsylvania tight end Ben Koyack in the class of 2011.

Scott Booker is handling Breneman's recruitment for the Irish.

Steven Mitchell, WR

7 of 8

The Irish have two things going for them as it pertains to recruiting Steven Mitchell.

One, Notre Dame has always recruited California well, and two, Mitchell attends a Catholic high school. Add in the fact that he has maintained a 3.6 grade point average at Bishop Alemany and the odds that he chooses Notre Dame seem to increase.

The speedy 5'11", 170-pound receiver has received tempered interest from other programs, as Mitchell has been offered by Ole Miss, SMU, Texas A&M, UCLA, Washington and Washington State, along with Notre Dame.

Others

8 of 8

Aside from the few players I mentioned in the slideshow, there are many others whom Notre Dame has offered.

  • Alvin Bailey, WR
  • Ezekiel Elliot, RB
  • Ryan Green, RB
  • Taquan Mizzell, RB
