Arsenal News: Update on Per Mertesacker's Sunderland Injury
Per Mertesacker has posted a picture of his injured right leg on Facebook. It is the latest update on his injury.
Arsene Wenger had stated the following on the defender's injury at the post-match press conference at Sunderland.
"It was unfortunate. Mertesacker told me that he got a shot in his ankle and couldn’t move at all anymore.
"
We are a bit worried about his ankle I must say because he goes home on crutches.
He has done some ligament damage, but how big that is we will have to check tomorrow.
For sure he is out for Wednesday.

Missing the German international is, of course, no good news for Wenger and his team, who may now have to call on Francis Coquelin to fill in at left-back. Thomas Vermaelen, who would have manned this position in the absence of a fully fit Kieran Gibbs, is slotted into central defense.
The full extent of Mertesacker's injury still awaits a full scan, the result of which should be available by Wednesday.
In the meantime, the following image of Mertesacker's injured ankle hardly improves what is already feared.
""
"What a bummer. The foot doesn’t look too good and I have to wait for the physical examination. Right now I’m living with uncertainty…"
We wish the defender quick recovery and hope the injury does not prevent him from featuring at EURO 2012 or from contributing to the remainder of Arsenal's season.
