Michigan Football Recruiting: Early Commits Foreshadow Great Class for 2013
The Michigan Wolverines quietly cleaned up with their 2012 recruiting class. Coach Brady Hoke did work on the recruiting trail well before he led the Wolverines to an 11-2 season, and he's on the move again.
With 2012 national signing day officially in the rear view, focus has shifted to the 2013 class.
And guess what? The Wolverines are off to a great start once again.
Both Rivals and ESPN listed their top 100 for 2013, and Michigan already has two of those recruits committed: quarterback Shane Morris and defensive back Dymonte Thomas.
Morris is given five stars by ESPN and four stars by Rivals. At 6'3", 185 pounds, he possesses good size and athleticism. He committed in May of his sophomore year.
Thomas is given four stars by both ESPN and Rivals. The 6'1", 175-pounder has a great combination of size and speed and fits in to what the Wolverines have been trying to do defensively.
The best part for Michigan fans is that this is only the beginning.
Hoke had a very large portion of his 2012 class locked up before the 2011 season even started, and he kept nearly every single one of them. He's going to try and do much of the same this year.
With the weight the Michigan name holds, Hoke's recruiting chops and the potential of playing for both a Big Ten title and BCS championship, the Wolverines have a lot to offer.
Landing top-flight recruits like Morris and Thomas this early in the process is just the start of things to come.
