2013 College Football Recruits: Top Skill Postion Players You Need to Know

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The majority of programs around the country have wrapped up their 2012 recruiting classes, which means it's now time to discuss the top players for 2013.

The elite of next year's class vary in their positions, but it's always the skill position players that garner the most attention.

After all, college football fans love excitement and scoring, and these are the future stars of the sport. A lot will change over the course of a year, but these players are sure to still be highly ranked.

With that said, here are the top players at each skill position.

Shane Morris, QB

Listed at 6'3", 190 pounds, Morris is the top quarterback for 2013.

He's committed to play for Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines, which goes to show that the Big Ten school is back to being a powerhouse.

Morris is quick with his feet, but really impresses with his arm strength. He's a huge pickup for the Wolverines and will definitely be thrown into the mix with Denard Robinson leaving after this year.

Being from Michigan, it's unlikely for him to flip flop and go somewhere else. However, stranger things have happened in the college football recruiting world.

Robert Foster, WR

Listed at 6'2" and 190 pounds, Foster will continue to get a lot of looks from schools all over the country with his blazing speed.

Scout.com has him as the top wide receiver for 2013. The recruiting site also states that he is currently looking at Florida State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Pittsburgh.

Derrick Griffin, who is 6'6" and 214 pounds, is right on Foster's heels, meaning both will be fun to watch as the year goes on.

It's completely up in the air as to where Foster will go, so don't be surprised if he chooses to wait until National Signing Day to decide. He will continue to have the hype build around him.

Jalin Marshall, ATH

Listed at 6'0", 190 pounds, Marshall has the skills to play quarterback or running back in college, and I think he'll end up being a running back.

He's committed to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, so it will be up to Urban Meyer to decide where the young athlete plays. Marshall's speed and agility is what makes him so dangerous, so expect Meyer to use him early and often.

Scout.com has Marshall as the top running back in the class for 2013. He will definitely need to bulk up once he gets to Columbus, but that's never a major concern these days.

Of course, he could always decommit and pick another school. That's a growing trend in recruiting these days, but since Meyer is recruiting him, I highly doubt he changes his mind.
