15 Most Extravagant Sports Cars Owned by Footballers
Football players and extravagant cars just seem to fit. Wages are already up there and the WAG's can be as well, so why not the cars too?
My dream car is a Mitsbushi Evolution. You know, like the green one in 2 Fast 2 Furious. I guess you'll only know if you're into that kind of thing.
Well, these guys can dream a bit bigger. Getting paid over £100,000 a week in wages certainly has its perks.
Of course, we are looking at some of the most most high end cars in world. Basically, the ones that would make Pimp My Ride look like a bunch of little kids playing with knockoff Hot Wheels cars.
Here are some of the most extravagant sports cars owned by footballers today.
15. Michael Owen: Jaguar XKR 460 Typhoon
1 of 15Price: £100,000 (rough estimate)
Michael Owen looks like a miser in the sports car world thanks to this. It's not extremely extravagant compared to others on this list but it does the trick. The car was extensively modified, with about £25,000 in upgrades.
14. Anderson: Audi R8
2 of 15Price: £100,000 (estimate)
What's better than a little snapshot of players getting in their cars? A video. Maybe. Anderson was lucky to escape what looked like a deadly crash in this vehicle.
This just hit triple digits and got bonus points for being one of my favourite cars in past editions in the Need for Speed series.
13. Steven Gerrard: Porsche 911 Turbo
3 of 15Price: £100,000 (estimate)
We had to get a Porsche on the list and Steven Gerrard's our guy for this. This car is definitely classic in the sports car genre.
12. Mario Balotelli: Maserati
4 of 15Price: £100,000
That. Looks. Sick. Kudos to you Mario Balotelli. After crashing your equally nice-looking Audi R8, you picked up this car. No biggie.
11. Lionel Messi: Ferrari F430 Spider
5 of 15Price: £130,000 (estimate)
Our first Ferrari! Though this is a great car, Lionel Messi doesn't seem to have quite the tastes of his "arch-rival" Cristiano Ronaldo. The rest of his garage is pretty decent though.
10. Nani: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni
6 of 15Price: £137,000 (estimate)
The fact that there is only about 250 of these made makes Nani one lucky boy. This car can reach 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.
9. Arda Turan: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
7 of 15Price: £147,000 (estimate)
Maybe this isn't necessarily the best picture. I just wanted proof that it was Arda Turan in that car and it is. The winged-door picture looks nice too.
8. Didier Drogba: Mercedes SL65-AMG
8 of 15Price: £150,000 (estimate)
Didier Drogba hits some high notes with this car. Thankfully he didn't have the urge to do what his fellow African player did. Don't worry, we'll get to that person soon enough.
7. Wayne Rooney: Aston Martin Vanquish S
9 of 15Price: £170,000 (estimate)
This is an older car in Wayne Rooney's collection but a pricey and extravagant one nonetheless. It was essentially a gift from Colleen Rooney.
6. Jermaine Pennant: Chrome Aston Martin DBS
10 of 15Price: £170,000 (estimate)
Look at me. I ruined a perfectly good car with a dumb paint-job. How did Jermaine Pennant rack up the cash for that car and the chrome paint-job? I guess if you save up while playing for eight different clubs you can get there.
5. Frank Lampard: Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
11 of 15Price: £197,000 (estimate)
Frank Lampard comes up with second most expensive car of all his English mates. As with all the cars on this list, it's high class.
4. Obafemi Martins: Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
12 of 15Price: £250,000 (estimate)
According to the website this picture came from, that's Cristian Vieri jumping into the other side of Obafemi Martins' ride. I can't really make it out.
3. David Beckham: Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe
13 of 15Price: £350,000 (estimate)
David Beckham had this car customized as the Daily Mail points out. So that adds a couple more thousand pounds on to the price above. One of customizations include 24-inch wheels.
Doesn't matter that he is selling/sold it now, he owned it at one point and it certainly cost a bucket-load.
2. El Hadj Diouf: Chrome Mercedes Mclaren SLR
14 of 15Price: £420,000 (estimate)
El Hadj Diouf won the "I have a Mercedes Mclaren SLR" competition by virtue of his chrome job. William Gallas wasn't to be left out so he also has a chrome version of the car.
Somehow Gallas' car cost less so either Diouf is a bad negotiator or his car has more features etc. We'll just go with mixture of the two.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo: Bugatti Veyron
15 of 15Price: £ 875,000 (estimate)
You can't really hate Cristiano Ronaldo for getting this car really. Well you can, but you can't. I'm sure if everyone had that kind of money they would at least consider it.
