Arsenal Loan Update: Emmanuel Frimpong out for the Season

Matthew SnyderJun 4, 2018

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, most recently on loan with fellow Premiership side Wolverhampton Wanderers, will miss the rest of the season after rupturing the ACL in his right knee.

He suffered the injury during Saturday's match against Queens Park Rangers, ESPN Soccernet is reporting. Frimpong made five appearances for Wolves during his loan spell, and had one assist.

The Ghanaian had missed most of the 2010-11 season after succumbing to a similar ligament damage in his left knee.

Wolves released a statement on their official site explaining that Frimpong will be returning to Arsenal for medical treatment. He will meet with several specialists in London in the next couple of days.

Frimpong took to Twitter to say this about his injury:

"

Bad News is that I'm out for 6-9months with my Knee Gd News is that I will therefore have all the time in my hands to be doin #frimmyfacts. I wanna thank all the wolves fans for their support since I've been here and really Hope wolves stay up this season. I also wanna ask you to pray for my cruciate injury as I will be taking all the punishment it deserves as he or she have been very naughty:)

"

The young midfielder had made eight appearances for Arsenal in all competitions before sealing his loan deal this past January. Frimpong had earned plaudits for his tough tackling, savvy distribution and relentless motor in midfield and is widely regarded as one of the club's brightest talents.

While he may have more time now to wind up the infamous CNN pundit and Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan and Samir Nasri, who left the club last August (some have begun calling him Arsenal's "cult hero" in recognition of these acts), we wish him the speediest of recoveries.

In better club-related news, highly-rated youngster Benik Afobe, who turns 19 on Sunday, took to Twitter this afternoon to release this promising information:

"Trained today for the first time in 5 months and 23 days! So so happy! I felt great to be with everyone and ready to push on and work hard!"
