Jordan Diamond: Odds for the Four Finalists on His List
Jordan Diamond, one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2012 recruiting class, is one of the few highly touted recruits who decided to wait until after National Signing Day to announce his college decision.
Diamond, along with quarterback and teammate Robert Gregory, will both announce their decisions live tonight at 7 pm central.
Although he hasn't given much indication as to which school he's leaning towards, the coveted Chicago product has reportedly narrowed his choices down to four schools—Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin.
The question is: Which school will be lucky enough to land his services?
It's hard to get a read on where Diamond's leaning, but here's a look at the odds that I think each school has of landing the highly rated tackle prospect.
Auburn Tigers
1 of 4Some feel that Auburn could be the favorite at this point to land Diamond.
It makes sense, considering the Tigers have a lot to offer him.
Not only will the left tackle position be up for grabs next season after the departure of Brandon Mosley, the Tigers also offer Diamond the chance to compete against the best of the best in the SEC.
The 6'6'', 290-pound tackle has the perfect skill set to flourish in the SEC, and we've seen the conference develop plenty of big-time NFL tackle prospects in recent years, something Diamond has to like.
Gene Chizik and his staff are some of the best closers in college football, and it wouldn't be shocking if they found a way to seal the deal with Diamond and add him to what is already shaping up to be one of the most talented classes in the country.
Odds: 3/1
Arkansas Razorbacks
2 of 4Arkansas didn't sign any offensive tackle prospects in this year's class, which means there's certainly still room for Diamond to hop aboard.
Diamond reportedly enjoyed his visit down to Fayetteville, and it helps that Gregory is also considering the Razorbacks.
Diamond and Gregory could end up being a package deal, but that remains to be seen.
Out of all four of the schools on the 4-star tackle's list of finalists, Arkansas looks most equipped to compete for a national championship next season, and that definitely has to be appealing to Diamond.
Odds: 5/1
Michigan Wolverines
3 of 4Michigan was believed to be the recent favorite to land Diamond, but now many believe that he could be bound for the SEC.
Michigan has already stocked up on some highly touted offensive line recruits this year, including Kyle Kalis, a blue-chip 5-star prospect.
Since left tackle Taylor Lewan still has two years of eligibility left, Diamond probably won't see the field early in his career unless he can beat out Kalis and the other returning linemen for the open vacancy at right tackle.
If Diamond wants to stay in the Midwest and play in the Big Ten, Michigan will likely be his choice, but the spotlight of the SEC might turn out to be just too enticing.
Odds: 8/1
Wisconsin Badgers
4 of 4Wisconsin had the last crack at Diamond, as Madison is the place he paid his last visit to this past weekend.
That can always come into play, since it never hurts to leave the final impact in a kid's mind.
It also doesn't hurt that the Badgers have been an absolute offensive line factory over the last six years, sending numerous linemen to the pros, including two first-round tackles in Gabe Carimi and Joe Thomas.
Still, Wisconsin would seem to be the least likely option, because if Diamond wanted to play in the Big Ten, he would most likely head to Michigan.
The Badgers are certainly still in the equation, as evidenced by Diamond's recent visit, but it would certainly surprise some folks to see him whip out a Badger hat tonight.
You never know, though.
Odds: 12/1
