Manchester City vs. Everton Video: Watch Crazed Fan Handcuff Himself to Goal

Fandom met wild and crazy thoughts on Tuesday when a maniac handcuffed himself to the goalpost during the Everton and Manchester City match. 

Just when you thought the January transfer window couldn't get any crazier, the pitch at Goodison Park grew by one lone loon. 

The match, which was a nil-nil stalemate at that time, was stopped for several minutes while some man with a pair of handcuffs and a screw loose decided to handcuff himself to the Manchester City goalpost. 

I hardly think that he had a man crush on Joe Hart, who was tending goal and at some point turned and saw that he now had some fan to contend with. 

I would have loved to see the interaction if he was on the other side of the pitch, where American super goalie Tim Howard lurked. 

At one point, Phil Neville and Tim Cahill go over to have a nice chat with the man. I assume the conversation centered on unicorns and how magical aliens decided that this goalpost must be saved. 

The police were there to escort the man away, but alas, not one of them had a key on them. After a long delay that featured some highlights from the game, the loon was freed and the match commenced. 

Everton would later go ahead 1-0 on a goal from Darron Gibson, who was fed by none other than Landon Donovan. 

I had to sneak in as much American love as I could. Anytime Landy Cakes does something well, we note it and make sure that you have been made aware as well. 

A great match received a rather odd moment when the damn goalpost got stuck on some handcuffs.
