National Signing Day Predictions: Teams Destined to Emerge Huge Winners

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

Three teams are making massive statements this recruiting season. They are ready to sign top classes and reap the rewards.

Two of these schools feature new coaches that are on track to quickly turn their programs around. The other is a veteran coach that is preparing to get his team back to the top of the college football world.

Here are the big winners.

Texas

Having failed to live up to their lofty standards in recent years, Texas and head coach Mack Brown desperately needed a strong a recruiting class, and that is exactly what they are going to get.

Texas is currently ranked by Scout.com as having the best recruiting class in the nation. They have already signed five players—three of them ranked as 4-star prospects by Scout.

One of them is 4-star QB Connor Brewer. On top of that, they have a ton of high-quality commitments. That includes five 5-star players.

This is a talented and diverse class that will propel this school back to the top of the college football world.

Ohio State

Urban Meyer is wasting no time making an impact at Ohio State. He has been hauling in commitments from recruits left and right in his short stint as Buckeye coach.

Scout currently has this class ranked the third best in the nation, and that is for good reason. They have 23 commitments right now, and none of those are lower than a 3-star player.

Seven of those commitments are in Scout's top 100, and five are from 5-star players. If their talent pans out, the Buckeyes are going to have a frightening defensive line.

Three of the five-star players play on the D-line.

Urban Meyer sent a huge statement with his abbreviated recruiting class. He is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

UCLA

The Bruins have had a rough go of things in recent years. Rick Neuheisel was not able to turn things around and it cost him his job.

Jim Mora Jr. seems to have quickly gotten this thing on track. Scout currently ranks their class as the 11th-best in the nation.

They have commitments from three players in the top 100, one 5-star and four 4-star recruits. Most of these top recruits are on the defensive side of the ball, with the exception of 4-star QB Devin Fuller.

Mora is a defensive coach, and he is going to have some nice talent on that side of the ball to work with. UCLA could be making a quick turnaround.
