Dorial Green-Beckham: Missouri's Last Words Will Ring True for Star Recruit

Ryan RudnanskyJan 30, 2012

Usually, when you start hearing reports that a recruit will land at a particular school days before National Signing Day, there's a good chance it will come to fruition. We've also seen throughout the years that the school that has the last word can tip the scale in its favor.

Dorial Green-Beckham, the No. 1-ranked receiver in the 2012 class, just visited Missouri this weekend, and on Monday, Tulsa World writer John Hoover unleashed this little nugget:

Green-Beckham has reportedly narrowed his schools down to Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. Arkansas has been labeled as a favorite, given his ability to play right away at the program and the school's stature in the SEC, but Missouri appears to have an advantage at this point.

First off, despite Missouri going 8-5 last season, Columbia is close to Green-Beckham's family. I also find it compelling that Missouri was the last school he visited. The family has been very hush-hush about where he'll land, and it would make sense that Green-Beckham would visit his favorite last so as to not create too much buzz right away.

The Kansas City Star also reported this on Monday:

"

"Orangebloods.com, a Rivals website that covers Texas, was on Austin radio Monday morning and said he expected Green-Beckham to go to Missouri."

"

There's certainly a lot of commotion about Green-Beckham's visit to Missouri's campus. The fact that Missouri even got a receiver of Green-Beckham's caliber to visit the school is a score in itself.

You also have to remember that Missouri is headed to the SEC next season. Combined with the fact that the school has always loved its receivers and is bringing in the highly touted Maty Mauk, you know Green-Beckham would have plenty of balls thrown his way.

We won't know for sure until Wednesday, but all signs point to Missouri, for me.
