Ohio State Football Recruiting: 3 Things All Buckeyes Are Hoping for on NSD
Ever since the Ohio State Buckeyes hired head coach Urban Meyer, the recruiting for this team has been insane. They've landed top recruit after top recruit, and the scary part of the whole thing is that there are several players still on the market that are considering Ohio State.
With national signing day quickly approaching, Meyer and company are doing their last bit of homework to try and make sure that they land at least a couple more top players. If it's anything we've learned in the last few years in college football, it's to not doubt Urban Meyer when it comes to recruiting.
Here are a few things all Buckeyes fans are hoping for on national signing day.
Davonte' Neal Picks the Buckeyes
1 of 3Davonte' Neal has visited schools such as Notre Dame, Arkansas, Ohio State and North Carolina. It appears at this point in the process that both the Irish and the Buckeyes are the front-runners for his services. But even with that said, he has a visit scheduled with Arizona after signing day, which means he will have to really feel comfortable with a school to make a decision before then.
The Buckeyes are hoping they made a big enough impact on him and he'll sign on the dotted line.
Neal is a versatile player that can play either the wide receiver or cornerback position. He's a shutdown corner on defense and a receiver who runs excellent routes on offense. With his speed and playmaking ability, he's also a threat in the return game as well.
It would really mean a lot if Neal forgoes the trip to Arizona and commits to Ohio State on signing day.
Armani Reeves Sticks It to Michigan
2 of 3This has to be a player that the Buckeyes are extremely interested in.
Reeves isn't the biggest player at 5'11", 185 pounds, but he is a competitor on the football field and a lockdown corner. He also isn't afraid to get his hands dirty in run support and is a solid tackler.
He's one of the top cornerbacks in this year's class, and he's down to two schools: Ohio State or Michigan.
The Buckeyes could always use the depth on the defensive side of the ball, but I'm sure Ohio State just doesn't want him to end up in a maize and blue uniform. It'd be nice to see him commit to the Buckeyes, just make sure he doesn't end up a Wolverine.
Stefon Diggs Picks Ohio State
3 of 3This may be the biggest long shot out of them all, but it is possible. Diggs has shown serious interest in Florida and Auburn, as they both appear to be the favorites heading into the final days. But the speedy wide receiver does have a visit scheduled with the Buckeyes.
Ohio State was one of the worst passing teams in the country last year and are losing a key wide receiver in DeVier Posey. Diggs is a fast wideout that would be able to stretch the field in Urban Meyers' offense. He'd be like the Buckeyes' version of Percy Harvin and could even make plays on special teams as well.
With this class already loaded, landing a top two wide receiver in this class and stealing him away from Meyers' former team would put the cherry on top of the dessert.
