10 Most Ridiculous Dunks of the Week from the NBA
It's The Blake Griffin Show when discussing the top dunks of the week, and it's not the last time we'll see his name with rim-rattling jams in the same sentence.
There were a lot of great highlights to take away in the last week, and these efforts at the rim are ones that should be appreciated on a consistent basis.
Griffin has been really impressive once again early this season, but he hasn't been the only one punishing the basket.
10. Jeremy Evans with the Put-Back
1 of 10A lot of people may not be familiar with the type of leaping ability Evans possesses, but he can definitely get his head above the rim.
He doesn't see playing time very often, but when he does, he does a good job of capitalizing on it with plays like this.
9. Russell Westbrook to Kevin Durant
2 of 10With the news that Westbrook has signed on to play alongside Durant for the foreseeable future, we should all get used to seeing plays like this one.
There shouldn't be many more concerns about the ability of the two stars to play alongside one another going forward.
8. Monta Ellis Goes Sky High on Tyrus Thomas
3 of 10A lot of people like to harp on Ellis' game at the shooting guard position, but those critics have been rather quiet thus far in the season.
Perhaps it's because plays like these re-define the Ellis "mold" and prove that he's anything but a one-dimensional player, and Tyrus Thomas should've known better than to challenge him at the rim.
7. John Wall Slams Home the Alley-Oop
4 of 10It's not too often that Wall is on the receiving end of the alley-oop, but he went up with aggression in order to prove a point against the Thunder.
Hopefully for the Wizards and the Washington fanbase, we begin to see an improved brand of team basketball in the coming weeks after a rather suspect start to the season.
6. JaVale McGee Self-Highlight
5 of 10This was one of the more ridiculous plays I've ever seen in a regular-season game with the team losing, but it's still a sweet dunk for the highlight reel.
McGee is an absolute freak athletically, and if he can learn to develop some better low-post moves, he could really establish himself as a big-time center in this league.
5. Vince Carter Goes Back to Vinsanity
6 of 10Remember when Vince Carter brought us this dunk in the Olympics that some still argue is the best they've ever seen?
The one he delivered home for the Mavericks wasn't quite as spectacular, but it was downright impressive for Carter at this stage of his career, and undoubtedly got most out of their seats whether in the building or watching at home.
4. Chandler Parsons Gives It Up Close and Personal to JaVale McGee
7 of 10Parsons has a reputation for coming strong with the put-backs on the offensive glass, and he delivered a message to JaVale McGee that the Wizards center may not have appreciated.
For a second-round pick, the Rockets really seemed to hit the nail on the head in the draft and Parsons has already established himself as the starter.
3. Blake Griffin Flies Through the Lane
8 of 10Griffin slam dunks are just enjoyable to watch—but to try and describe his athleticism through words alone wouldn't be adequate enough.
If teams are going to back off of him from the foul line, he'll have no problem putting it on the floor and rising right up over everybody.
2. Chris Bosh Coast to Coast with the Spin for the Dunk
9 of 10Not enough people are talking about how well Bosh is playing this season for the Heat, and he would be getting a lot more attention on any other team in the NBA.
There aren't many big men with his skill who are capable of going coast-to-coast and spinning through the lane to slam it home, and that's exactly what Bosh does here.
1. Lob City
10 of 10No, it wasn't Chris Paul to Blake Griffin, it was Randy Foye playing the role for Paul.
However, that doesn't make it any less impressive.
The dunk was absolutely filthy, and the fact that it happened in the first quarter gave fans something to be excited about from the very opening of the action.
Just look how high Griffin gets off the floor.
