Brett Favre's Brother Scott Pardoned on Manslaughter Chargers by Governor

Brett Favre's brother, Scott, was pardoned by Mississippi governor Republican Haley Barbour in his last day of office on Tuesday, one of nearly 200 people pardoned.

Scott spent a year under house arrest and two years on probation for a drunk driving crash in 1996 that killed his best friend.

Some of those who were given pardons or early release from Barbour included rapists, murderers and child sex offenders, inciting outrage from victims and their family members.

Scott had already been cleared of his charges after driving in front of a train in Pass Christian in 1996.

Most people had never even heard of Scott's charges before he was pardoned on Tuesday. It shows yet another legal incident in Brett Favre's life after his sister, Brandi, was arrested in a raid of a suspected meth lab in January 2011. Brandi is facing charges of manufacturing meth, possession of a controlled substance, transferring a controlled substance and generation of hazardous waste.

Barbour also pardoned David Gatlin, who walked into the trailer of his estranged wife, Tammy Ellis-Gatlin, and shot her in the head in 1993. He was found guilty of murder, aggravated assault and burglary and sentenced to life in prison.

Joseph Ozment, who was among those pardoned, was convicted in 1994 of murder, conspiracy and armed robbery after killing shop clerk Ricky Montgomery as he worked.

Scott's case wasn't considered as serious as some of the other pardons, but the Favre family once again finds themselves embroiled in controversy.

Brett Favre, as you may remember, was fined $50,000 in 2011 for failing to cooperate with an investigation concerning him allegedly sexting and leaving inappropriate voice messages for former New York Jets hostess Jenn Sterger.
