NFL Playoffs 2012: Predictions for Most Unpredictable QBs in Divisional Round

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

There are always a few quarterbacks each NFL season that are maddening to analyze.

These are the inconsistent quarterbacks of the league, the ones who can disappoint mightily one second and then win a playoff game for you the next.

You already know Tim Tebow is going to be on this list, but there are also two other quarterbacks whom I will give predictions for in the weekend's divisional round.

3. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

After completing 62 percent of his passes for more than 3,600 yards and 25 touchdowns to 10 interceptions last season, Joe Flacco has been a curious character this season.

Flacco has completed just 57 percent of his passes this season and tossed 20 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. He's been a part of losses against the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers.

Ugh.

Against a rising Houston Texans defense that just forced four turnovers against the Cincinnati Bengals, I don't see things working out well for Flacco. However, the Ravens defense will still do enough to win the game.

2. T.J. Yates, Houston Texans

I fully expected T.J. Yates to flop and for running back Arian Foster to explode against the Bengals.

Well, one outta two ain't bad.

Yates passed for three touchdowns and three interceptions in five starts this season, but he averaged 8.0 yards per attempt against the Bengals and threw one touchdown and no interceptions.

Yates isn't going to exactly carry the Texans, but he's shown some promise this season. Against the Ravens, however, I think he's going to struggle even more than Flacco.

1. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

I was so surprised by Tim Tebow's performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round that I haven't been able to sleep because my eyes are still bugged out.

It wasn't that Tebow led a comeback; we've all seen that before. It was that he did so against a tough defense. Yes, said defense was suffering from several injuries, but I still didn't see Tebow throwing for 316 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos scored 29 points and the Steelers are allowed a league-low 14.3 points per game during the regular season.

I don't see Tebow struggling mightily against the New England Patriots in the divisional round, given they have allowed the second-most passing yards per game this season, but I don't think he can win a shootout against Tom Brady. The Patriots beat the Broncos in Week 15, 41-23.

Then again, Tebow has proven me wrong countless times this season.
