MLB Rumors: Prince Fielder's Father Puts Nationals as Favorites for Star 1B
Prince Fielder has a very contentious relationship with his father, former first baseman Cecil.
It's so bad that you would think he would be the last person to offer any information about where Prince will end up, yet that's exactly what he did, saying he thinks his son will sign with the Washington Nationals.
Cecil dropped the news during an appearance on MLB Network Radio, saying he spoke with his son on Christmas Eve, and that he believes the Nationals are the favorites to land the 27-year-old superstar.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Here is a portion of the interview transcript (via Yardbarker):
"Host: That's terrific. It's really good to hear that you guys talked recently, and the next time you talk to him, can you tell him to come to Washington? Because I'm here in...
"
Cecil: I think that's what's going to happen, man... personally, I think that's going to happen.
Make of that what you will. It's not like Cecil has a daily window into these negotiations, nor is he likely talking to Prince everyday.
But it is interesting that the two of them had a conversation, and that Cecil mentioned this.
He could be basing his information on the things that he has heard and read, or perhaps his son told him something.
It has been well-established that the Nationals are interested in Prince and have the money to sign him.
Cecil's news just confirms something that we all knew: Washington is pressing him hard. If he had more information about the situation, he probably would have shared it.
Still, this is nothing but good news for the Nationals.
We know that the Chicago Cubs have dropped out of the bidding by acquiring Anthony Rizzo, the Seattle Mariners are lurking, although we don't know how hard they are pursuing him and the Texas Rangers are pouring their money into Yu Darvish.
There really is nowhere else for Prince to go, so Cecil's news only increases our suspicions that when Prince signs a contract, it will be for the Nationals.
