The 8 Worst Offensive Teams in the NBA
Defense wins championships, but you have to be able to score the ball also.
Sometimes, you have to be able to outscore teams to win games, but some teams in the NBA have no chance at all at doing that.
With the shortened training camp and exhibition schedule, the offenses should be ahead of the defenses at this point, but for some teams, there's no hope.
Here's a look at the eight worst offensive teams in the NBA.
Washington Wizards
1 of 8Need a reason why the Wizards are winless?
Try these numbers out.
They shoot only .397 percent from the floor, only .288 percent from behind the arc and average only 84.9 points per game.
You aren't going to beat anyone shooting the ball like that.
Detroit Pistons
2 of 8Detroit's the lowest scoring team in the league at 84.3 points per game. They aren't a terrible perimeter team, but overall, don't shoot a good percentage from the field (.417 percent).
New Jersey Nets
3 of 8They have their superstar in Deron Williams, but the Nets can't shoot the ball at all, averaging an NBA worst .381 percent from the floor.
That's a big reason why they are 2-7.
New Orleans Hornets
4 of 8Losing both Chris Paul and David West and only having Eric Gordon healthy for two games so far, the Hornets probably were going to struggle, and they have.
They score only 86.5 points per game and aren't a good perimeter team, knocking down only .276 percent of their attempts.
Sacramento Kings
5 of 8The Kings aren't among the lowest scoring teams in the NBA, but they are one of the worst shooting teams.
They have shot only 40 percent from the floor, 28 percent from behind the arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe.
Making more shots might get them a few more wins.
Memphis Grizzlies
6 of 8The Grizzlies make this list due to the fact that they are an absolutely dreadful shooting team.
They don't take many three-point attempts, only 10 per game, but they only knock down two of those.
Memphis has to start shooting better than 20 percent from behind the arc. Without Zach Randolph in the lineup, they become an easy team to defend.
Toronto Raptors
7 of 8The Raptors aren't a terrible shooting team, but they score only 87 points per game. One big reason for that is that they don't get to the free throw line very often.
Their 18 trips to the line per game is the third lowest mark in the league.
Golden State Warriors
8 of 8The Warriors have been without Stephen Curry at times, but should still be a team that scores over 90 points per game and they're not.
One big reason for that is Mark Jackson's team is a dreadful free-throw shooting team at only 68 percent on the season.
