Shedeur Sanders Wants to 'Build On' Deion's Signature Nike Cleats Once Drafted in NFL
University of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is looking to add to his legendary father's legacy once he reaches the NFL.
Speaking on his 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast on Tuesday (beginning at the 23:37 mark), Shedeur was asked whether he would want his own original signature cleat in the NFL or if he would want to do a take on his father, Deion Sanders', iconic cleats, and he chose the latter:
"I would want to build on it. I want to build on it. Have like a different version. But I think concept, because I feel like it's more… like now, like just looking at life and looking at everything, it's more about generational. It's more about what could be passed down year after year after year after year rather than everybody starting to think they're whole new wave and whole new, because there's no real substance behind it."

Shedeur further explained his stance by adding: "Everything that's great has to have a story behind it. Every great player has to have a story behind it. So I feel like when it comes to design, anything like that, it always has to have a great story behind it."
When Deion starred in the NFL for 14 seasons with multiple teams and established himself as a Hall of Fame cornerback, he wore multiple different signature cleats designed by Nike, including the 1993 Nike Air Diamond Turf and the 1996 Nike Diamond Turf TD.
Due to his star power, swag and success in the NFL, Deion had among the hottest signature cleats of all time.
Now, Sanders is the head coach at the University of Colorado, and Coach Prime is getting a chance to guide his son and prepare him for the next level.
In his first season at Colorado in 2023, Shedeur put up strong numbers, completing 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions, while also rushing for four scores.
With another highly productive year, Sanders can solidify his status as a likely first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, at which point he will likely have his fair share of cleat offers rolling in.
