2012 NBA Throwback Jerseys: Ranking the Old-School Unis from Worst to First

The NBA has released its 2012 throwback uniforms. Some of them probably should have stayed back. Some look more like throw-up uniforms.

Some, though, look like throwdown uniforms, as in you can't wait to see players throw down in these uniforms. 

Here they all are, ranked from worst to first. 

The requisite disclaimer here is that these are all based on aesthetic value of the uniforms and have nothing to do with the players in them. 

Miami Heat

You know those "that was the second unmanly thing you've done today" commercials. For the Miami Heat, there's an endorsement opportunity available here. 

Someone says, "what was the first?"

Then the scene flashes back to them putting this thing on. These things are to unmanly for the WNBA, much less the NBA. 

This is going to take the Heat from the elite to the effete. 

Los Angeles Clippers

I would like these a lot more if they were the winner of a design contest of sixth-graders. 

The whole font thing is just childish-looking. You wonder if they were designed in crayon. 

I mean I know the Clippers have some good young talent, but they aren't that young. 

Charlotte Bobcats

I sort of like the color scheme, but barely. It gets a profound "eh" from me. These are neither bad nor spectacular. 

Plus, for some reason, maybe it's the whole "Cougars" thing (they're throwbacks to the Charlotte Cougars) but I can't see these without thinking of the Houston Cougars, which is all very confusing to me.  I see these and keep wanting to call Charlotte, Houston. 

San Antonio Spurs

Now what would be really interesting is if the Chaps wearing these were chaps in chaps. 

Aside from that I like the colors and the script. I's unique without going overboard. Of course if they were actually wearing chaps and went overboard it would be completely awesome.  

New Jersey Nets

I think it's impossible to say "I love America" and hate these uniforms. I think if any Republican were to don this thing right now, they'd win the primary. The stars and stripes do it all. 

I mean these don't get any more American, so you can't knock them too hard. 

Minnesota Timberwovles

I don't know what it is about the color scheme and font selection on the "MUSKIES" there but it just works. It's offset just right form the numbers in a way that's both noticeable and without being ostentatious. 

Plus, "Muskies" sounds cool. 

Denver Nuggets

You don't have to "axe" me twice, there's nothing to "pick" apart about these unis. 

I like the gold colored numbers on the one side and the blue on the back. I also like the whole cartoon sort of thing going on here. Who doesn't love cartoons?

Indiana Pacers

Call it a matter of personal taste, but these are my personal favorites. It's the yellow racing stripe, which is perfect for the city and the team. It also has the effect of being not so different that you don't what team it is. 

This is the one where I actually prefer it to their present unis. 

On a side note, hats off to ABCDEFG, who has apparently manged to get a lot of contracts in a short period of time.
