Lakers' Anthony Davis: 'No Doubt' I'll Play vs. Pelicans in Play-In Game Amid Injury

Paul KasabianApr 14, 2024

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis told reporters that there is "no doubt" that he will play in his team's play-in game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday after exiting Sunday's 124-108 victory with a back injury.

Davis also told reporters that his back locked up on him after he was pushed by the Pelicans' Larry Nance Jr. on the play. However, he does not believe the injury will cause him to miss Tuesday's game.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham had told reporters postgame that AD suffered a spasm and also offered encouragement he'd be ready for the team's play-in game against the Pelicans, which will occur in New Orleans on Tuesday.

AD gingerly walked to the scorer's table to check out of the game with 5:22 remaining. He finished with 30 points and 11 rebounds in 33 minutes.

The 31-year-old Davis has posted 24.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game in his 12th NBA season. He is a nine-time All-Star playing his fifth season in L.A. after spending his first seven in New Orleans.

Davis is also a four-time All-NBA First Team member and made the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021. He's obviously an instrumental and invaluable member of the team as it hopes for a playoff appearance.

Thankfully, it appears Davis should be good to go for Tuesday, when the Lakers will tip off in New Orleans at 7:30 p.m. ET. The winner will be the No. 7 seed and face the No. 2 seed Denver Nuggets in the first round.
