Updated 2027 NFL Draft Order After Week 8 Results, Who Could Chargers & Jets Take?
The New York Jets have become the big story in the 2027 NFL draft conversation after Week 8's results.
The Jets currently own the projected fourth, fifth and 10th picks in the April selection process thanks to losses by the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys.
The Jets could be on the verge of landing an historic draft class if the Colts and Cowboys continue to lose. They own the first-round picks of both franchises through the trades for Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.
The Los Angeles Chargers still sit atop the projected draft order with their 0-7 record. They are in front of the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins as we near the halfway point of the NFL regular season.

Drew Mestemaker

Drew Mestemaker is emerging as potentially the best quarterback prospect in the draft class.
The Oklahoma State quarterback is second in the FBS in passing yards with 2,649 and tied for second in the FBS in touchdown passes with 25.
Mestemaker has put up better numbers than most of the other quarterbacks eligible for the 2027 NFL draft.
The North Texas transfer wasn't heavily recruited entering college, but over the last two years, he's become one of the most productive quarterbacks at the collegiate level.
Mestemaker has to be an intriguing option for the New York Jets, who would assumedly use one of their three first-round selections on a quarterback.
The Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and other quarterback-needy teams should keep an eye on Mestemaker over the final few weeks of the college football season. He might turn out to be the best quarterback available given the struggles and injuries of the other players at his position.
Charlie Becker

Charlie Becker might end up as the best wide receiver prospect not named Jeremiah Smith.
The Indiana wide out is up to 875 yards and nine touchdowns on the season after his 149-yard, one-touchdown performance on Saturday.
Becker already eclipsed his career highs in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns that he set a year ago with the Hoosiers.
The majority of teams at the top of the draft order will be interested in Smith, but Becker is a fascinating option for the franchises that miss out on the Ohio State player.
The Chargers could take Smith at No. 1, or if they land on Becker if they fall further down the draft order.
The Jets should have eyes on Becker as a complement to Garrett Wilson, especially if they focus on a quarterback with their first draft pick.
