2012 NFL Mock Draft: Predicting Spots for All Top QBs After Andrew Luck

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

Stanford's quarterback Andrew Luck is the headliner of the 2012 NFL draft class, and will likely be the No. 1 overall selection.

Where will the rest of the top signal-callers land?

Robert Griffin III, Baylor

For as intriguing of a prospect as Robert Griffin III is, where he is ultimately selected in April is just as interesting.

Will the St. Louis Rams "start over" with RG3 and trade their No. 1 pick in 2010, Sam Bradford, in exchange for a ton of draft choices?

If not, he could fall to the later stages of the top 10, maybe the Miami Dolphins or Washington Redskins?

It is impossible to tell what the Rams will do, because currently, they don't have a general manager or head coach.

As of now, my belief is that St. Louis will trade the pick to receive additional draft picks and attempt to build the team around Bradford, meaning Griffin III will either land in Washington D.C. or Miami, whichever team doesn't acquire Matt Flynn via free agency.

Nick Foles, Arizona

At 6'5'' and weighing in at 240 pounds, Foles has ideal NFL size.

He displayed a big arm during his college career at Arizona and delivers the ball with good accuracy, especially when he's inside the pocket.

The knock on Foles is that he locks on to his primary target and isn't quick enough moving through his progressions to be a successful quarterback at the next level.

With loads of potential, but improvements needed, Foles is somewhat of a project guy, and could be picked in the second or third round by a team that goes in a different direction in Round 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills or Seattle Seahawks take a chance.

Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M

Tannehill, to some, is just as good of a prospect as Foles, but his inconsistency throws up a major red flag for me.

While he exploded with some huge games in 2011, like the six-touchdown effort against Baylor, he disappointed with six total interceptions against Oklahoma and Texas.

At 6'4'', he's got the ideal height, but he's a shade below 220 and will need to add a little bulk to his frame as a professional.

He projects as a backup guy, so a variety of teams could take a shot at him anywhere from the late second to the fifth round.

Tannehill would be a decent second-string option in Kansas City and he could work out of the spread system as a member of the New York Giants, too.
