Top 2024 Uncommitted College Football Recruits After Early Signing Day
College football's 2023 early signing period is finished, as the bulk of recruiting classes are filled. Since the vast majority of top prospects sign early with their respective schools, there aren't too many uncommitted prospects remaining. In fact, there are just four Top 150 uncommitted players.
But a few big-time talents have yet to pick a school. The remaining unsigned prospects will have to commit to a school between now and national signing day on Feb. 7.
Let's take a look at the top uncommitted prospects left after the early signing period. We'll include some top prospects from the transfer portal as well.
Gatlin Bair, Wide Receiver
1 of 6Gatlin Bair is the No. 10 receiver in this class and hails from Burley, Idaho. The 4-star is also the top prospect from his home state. Although the wideout remains uncommitted, 247Sports projects he'll sign with Michigan. Bair was previously committed to Boise State until earlier this month.
His situation is a unique one. Although he's listed as a 2024 prospect, he won't actually enroll until 2026. Bair is participating in a two-year mission trip as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints before playing his college football.
The Athletic also reported that Oregon is heavily recruiting Bair. He took an unofficial visit to Eugene last month, and the Ducks' campus is obviously a bit closer to home than Ann Arbor for Bair. The receiver has reportedly also talked to Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh about the 60-year-old's possible jump to the NFL, per The Athletic.
We'll see who ends up with this talented Idaho receiver.
Zavier Mincey, Safety
2 of 6
Whichever school ends up with Zavier Mincey will get a talented, multi-sport athlete. The 4-star safety out of Daytona Beach, Florida, played basketball and participated in track and field events for Mainland High School.
Mincey, who is set to announce his commitment during the 2024 All-American Bowl next month, is being heavily recruited by Florida. He has visited Gainesville's campus a handful of times within the last year and is projected by 247Sports to eventually land with the Gators' 2024 class.
Florida head coach Billy Napier would be wise to land Mincey. The school entered the early signing period with a top-five class but is currently sitting outside the top 15. Getting a 4-star safety who's basically in Florida's backyard might lower the heat from the losses and flips a bit.
Bradley Shaw, Linebacker
3 of 6
Linebacker Bradley Shaw is the No. 8 linebacker overall and the No. 9 prospect from the state of Alabama. The 4-star prospect is reportedly being recruited by both Arkansas and Clemson.
But the Razorbacks appear to be the late favorites to land the linebacker who was trending toward Clemson until recently, per Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports (h/t Connor Goodson of Best of Arkansas Sports). It would be a big get for Sam Pittman's 2024 class, which ranks 29th nationally and is 14th in the SEC.
Although Shaw hasn't publicly addressed when exactly he may announce a commitment, he is slated to participate in January's All-American Bowl. If Arkansas can land the talented playmaker, he'll be the highest-rated linebacker in the Razorbacks' 2024 class.
Daniel Hill, Running Back
4 of 6
One of the most notable uncommitted offensive prospects is 4-star running back Daniel Hill out of Meridian, Mississippi. He is the No. 6 running back from the 2024 class.
In October, Hill narrowed his list of schools to three, including Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama. Although 247Sports is predicting that he will sign with Nick Saban and Alabama, the Volunteers and Gamecocks are still in the running.
"They've had a pretty strong history of producing running backs and putting running backs in the NFL," Hill said of Alabama via On3Sports in October. "As a recruit, that's something that you've really got to take in, especially with the position I'm going to college to play."
Hill is expected to announce his commitment during the All-American Bowl next month.
Amaree Williams, Athlete
5 of 6
Amaree Williams is the No. 8 athlete in the 2024 class. The North Palm Beach, Florida, product was initially supposed to be in the class of 2025 before he reclassified to this year earlier this week.
Although 247Sports hasn't listed a prediction on where the newest member to the 2024 class may end up, the 4-star recruit recently took an official visit to Florida State.
"I love their family aspect," Williams said, via Rivals, of his experience in Tallahassee. "A lot of people may say that, but it's true here at Florida State. I feel like that was a big thing for me. I was able to see that through my whole weekend, seeing coaches' kids, wives and whole families at all the events. That was big."
Williams has some pretty impressive football bloodlines. His father, running back Moe Williams, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 1996 NFL draft. He played 10 seasons in the league, nine of them for the Vikings, with whom he accounted for 3,337 total yards of offense with 21 touchdowns.
Top Transfer Portal Prospects to Keep an Eye On
6 of 6
Transfer portal players have a bit of a different timing window than high school football recruits. The 2023 transfer portal window opened on Dec. 4 and will close on Jan. 2, 2024. Here's a quick rundown on some of the top uncommitted prospects, and where they might end up:
- Texas A&M DL Walter Nolen: Over two seasons in College Station, Nolen played in 22 games. He accounted for 66 total tackles, including five sacks. 247Sports projects him to land with Ole Miss.
- Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart: The former No. 1 overall receiver prospect from the class of 2022 is back on the market. Over two seasons, Stewart had 91 receptions for 1,163 yards and six touchdowns.
- Georgia CB Nyland Green: Playing on a talented defense in Athens over the last three seasons, Green had just 12 total tackles. He's currently the No. 6-ranked transfer portal player.
- UTSA DE Trey Moore: Moore played in 26 games over the last two seasons for the Roadrunners, accounting for 60 solo stops and 105 total tackles. 247Sports predicts he'll end up at Texas.
- Florida RB Trevor Etienne: Whoever lands Etienne is getting an explosive playmaker. Over the last two seasons with the Gators, he's accounted for 1,472 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. He could reportedly land at rival Georgia, per On3's Pete Nakos.
