NFL Trade Rumors: The Latest Buzz on Davante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins and More
The 2023 NFL trade deadline is less than a week away on Oct. 31, and it can be expected that there will be a ton of activity across the league.
There will be teams looking to improve their roster for a potential playoff run, while others will be trying to unload high-priced players and recoup assets for the future.
Let's take a look at some of the latest rumors as the trade deadline approaches.
Raiders Trading Davante Adams Doubted by Execs
1 of 3
Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams would be the most coveted player on the trade market if he was available for a deal, but it doesn't sound like teams expect that to be the case this year.
Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post spoke to rival executives who "doubt" the Raiders will move Adams prior to the deadline.
Adams is universally regarded as one of the best receivers in the league, but he hasn't been able to showcase that this season. He's been held under 100 receiving yards in six out of seven games, and his average of 11.5 yards per catch is the second-lowest mark of his career.
The six-time Pro Bowler has already voiced his frustration about his diminished role in the Raiders offense, telling reporters last week, "When you're a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses -- it's greatness. So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That's my purpose for being here. I'm not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way."
While it sounds like Adams will be open to a change in scenery, it doesn't appear likely that the Raiders are motivated to ship him away just yet.
Titans Could Land 2nd-Round Pick by Trading DeAndre Hopkins
2 of 3
Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has not made much of an impact in his first season with the Tennessee Titans, but he's still talented enough to garner a significant asset if the team decides to trade him.
One general manager told The Washington Post's Jason La Canfora that trading Hopkins can net the Titans a second-round draft pick in return.
Hopkins leads Tennessee with 27 catches and 376 yards, but he has yet to reach the end zone through six games this season. The five-time Pro Bowler is capable of a higher level of production, so he would likely thrive in a different situation.
At 2-4, the Titans are on the verge of a lost season. They already appear to be in sell mode after trading Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
Hopkins could be next to follow Byard out of Tennessee, as the franchise should strongly consider flipping him if a team is willing to cough up a second-round pick or more.
NFL Execs Torn on Worth of Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy
3 of 3
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was projected to be a sure-fire superstar when he was drafted 15th overall in 2020, but he's become more of a question mark in his four years in the NFL.
Jeudy has underperformed so much this season that NFL executives are split on what the team would garner in return for trading him. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently reported that multiple league execs said they "couldn't justify" trading a Day 2 pick for the Alabama product, while others said he could potentially be worth a late third-rounder
Jeudy ranks second on the Broncos with 25 catches and 286 receiving yards, but he's yet to score a touchdown this year. The 24-year-old has not recorded a 1,000-yard season in his four-year career.
Despite his lack of production, Jeudy will still have his share of suitors before the trade deadline. Fowler noted that "the feeling league-wide is Jeudy is more likely to be dealt" than fellow receiver Courtland Sutton.
It will be interesting to see if the Broncos receive an offer enticing enough to move on from Jeudy or if they choose to hold onto him despite his failure to meet expectations.
