76ers' Joel Embiid on All-Star Starter Snub: 'I Keep Getting Disrespected'
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid went absolutely massive in Saturday's 126-119 win over Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets, putting up 47 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks.
Perhaps Embiid was feeling a touch slighted. The performance came just days after Embiid wasn't named an Eastern Conference starter for the All-Star Game, and he let his feelings be known on the matter in his postgame game comments.
"I mean, I keep getting disrespected," he told ESPN's Cassidy Hubbarth. "And it's cool. I'm just gonna try to keep helping my team win games. We're going to try to get us the No. 1 seed and then in the playoffs, all I ask is no freak injuries. I think I'm due for a big run, and my team too. ... I think we've got a chance, we've just gotta keep getting better."
All of Philadelphia is asking for no freak injuries to the talented Embiid, too, who may have moved to the top of the MVP conversation after his dominant performance on Saturday against the Nuggets and the two-time defending winner of the award.
